    A great find!

I went to Sofrito this past weekend with some friends and we could not stop praising the food. It's been a long time since I have been to a nice, white linen Puerto Rican restaurant that serves authentic food, generous portions, without charging ridiculous prices. I had the Bistec Encebollado with Tostones and it was well seasoned, flavorful and just plain delicious. One of my friends ordered the Pernil with Arroz con Gandules, and the portion served were very generous. The pork was seasoned very well with garlic and the skin was very crispy as it should be. I recommend this place to anyone that's seeking true Puerto Rican food and a very nice environment.

    Sabroso y mas !!!

My friends, I went yesterday and this place rocks! If you are Boricua as I am you will notice that this is as good as it gets. I had the Lobster asopao. It had huge pieces of Lobster inside and they even give you the tools to get the meat out of the shell. Sabroso! It had a lot of Recao which is great. Then I had the pernil with arroz con gandules and of course Maduros. (yes I was hungry). The amount of food was enormous but still ridiculously good. The pernil had the crust toasted like chicharron. Ohh! God. Thank for this place. The service was perfect also. Mi Gente! Este es el lugar.

Sofrito's es Boricua-pa que tu lo sepa!

To find a place in New York City, one of the most diverse places in the world, that is authenitcally puerto rican is rare to say the least. The food is delicious and lots, the music is loud vibrant, the people are friendly, and the cost cant be beat. When i went there was a wait but my Host couldnt have been nicer-or funnier. Our server was friendly and on point. We had at least 3 people come over to ask how everything was. Hands down the best most authentic puerto rican experience. I would highly reccomend to anyone.

    Great place

I went to Sofrito for the first time last Friday night with my girlfriends and had the greatest time, didn't make any reservations so we had to wait a little while, about 30 minutes or so. But we kept ourselves busy at one of the nicest bars I have ever seen and the drinks were great ,we had one of the nicest bartenders serving us Angela who made us feel right at home, keep up the good work girlfriend . We also met the owner JR Morales who was just as nice as the bartender. You would never get the impression that he was an owner because he treated us as if we were family which is not something you see often from many restaurant owners. We got seated shortly there after and had a very nice server named Kevin who made the whole experience unbelievable . The skirt steak and roast pork speak for itself, to die for! Can't say enough about this place great job.

    WAITING....

Food is incredible and affordable! The service is hit or miss. The worst part about this place is waiting for a table. Whether or not you have a reservation, be prepared to wait anywhere from 25 minutes to an hour and a half. My theory is that they want you to spend at the bar to make up for the affordable entrees. In the end, I think the long wait will keep me from returning.
