Real Potential ...
This place is a wonderful spot for getting work done during the day or chatting with friends. They have large tables that are great for laptops and a bright and spacious setting. All comments about management and service not being on the ball are true, however. They really should be more meticulous. It's hard to catch the server's eye, and I have also experienced unavailable menu options and forgotten orders. Too bad for such a great place.

Such potential
Society has such potential in an area that needs a great cafe/restaurant. Yet it just doesn't get it. The cafe is cute but the couch is falling apart, the cafe smells like a dirty kitchen and they couldn't even make decent coffee (mine had coffee grounds in it and it was cold!) Oh how I wish I had a place to hang out with friends but I'll have to wait for something else!

What a gem!
The ambiance of the place was laid back and comfortable. I would agree that the couches could be redone, it didn't lack character and warmth. The food was VERY good especially for the price. I had the Braised Ribs with fingerling potatoes which practically fell of the bone, and their salad was simple but perfect. My friend brought me here so she could have the grilled cheese sandwich with apples which she couldn't stop thinking about. I also had an espresso that was flavorful and wasn't bitter and my friend had the mint tea which she mentioned was really good. This place is a gem and I can't wait to go back for the velvet pancakes! Luckily, I don't live far. If you haven't visited this place, check it out!

Almost grub
Atmosphere is great. Food is good. Couches need a makeover of real leather.

total waste
I've tried this place twice after seeing a TV review on in a NYC cab. I went there with my girlfriend, we ordered shrimp and grits and a sandwich, then proceeded to wait 50 minutes while the two tables next to us ( who arrived after us) got their food. When we inquired to the waitress she had forgotten to put in our order. The food was average at best. We tried to give it another try a couple of days ago. On a 95 degree summer day, it was blazing hot in the place. If you can stomach mediocre food, deal with poor service, and endure the uncomfortable heat, it's the perfect place.

Love Society!
I love this place. It's perfect for a weekend brunch or for a delicious weekday lunch. I have experienced some of the problems other reviewers mentioned about them being out of items on the menu frequently, which seems silly since the menu is pretty small...but I find the service to be friendly, the vibe to be warm and inviting and I'm a huge fan of the shrimp & grits and the chorizo....can't complain and will go back!

Great Atmosphere Very Poor Service
I want to love this place, but the service is so poor, I don’t think I will be able to go back. A friend and I stopped by for a cup of coffee and a quick bite on a recent Saturday morning. We placed an order for tea, which arrived in a reasonable amount of time. We then ordered a bowl of the shrimp and grits and waited forever. We waited so long, the table next to us was seated, ordered, and began eating their food, and we were still waiting on our shrimp and grits. Finally, we asked a waitress to check on our order and were told they never actually put in our order for the food with the kitchen. So after all of that waiting, our food wasn’t even on its way. There was no apology from the waitress, no attempt to comp us anything or get us some food quickly. We were so annoyed we paid our bill and left. On the way out, we told the owner about the poor service, and he was apologetic, but the lack of service from the waitress was unreal. The food looked good, and the tea and coffee we had was good, but its just a shame we never had a chance to try the shrimp and grits, which I've heard is actually quite tasty.
