total waste
I've tried this place twice after seeing a TV review on in a NYC cab. I went there with my girlfriend, we ordered shrimp and grits and a sandwich, then proceeded to wait 50 minutes while the two tables next to us ( who arrived after us) got their food. When we inquired to the waitress she had forgotten to put in our order. The food was average at best. We tried to give it another try a couple of days ago. On a 95 degree summer day, it was blazing hot in the place. If you can stomach mediocre food, deal with poor service, and endure the uncomfortable heat, it's the perfect place.

Love Society!
I love this place. It's perfect for a weekend brunch or for a delicious weekday lunch. I have experienced some of the problems other reviewers mentioned about them being out of items on the menu frequently, which seems silly since the menu is pretty small...but I find the service to be friendly, the vibe to be warm and inviting and I'm a huge fan of the shrimp & grits and the chorizo....can't complain and will go back!

Great Atmosphere Very Poor Service
I want to love this place, but the service is so poor, I don’t think I will be able to go back. A friend and I stopped by for a cup of coffee and a quick bite on a recent Saturday morning. We placed an order for tea, which arrived in a reasonable amount of time. We then ordered a bowl of the shrimp and grits and waited forever. We waited so long, the table next to us was seated, ordered, and began eating their food, and we were still waiting on our shrimp and grits. Finally, we asked a waitress to check on our order and were told they never actually put in our order for the food with the kitchen. So after all of that waiting, our food wasn’t even on its way. There was no apology from the waitress, no attempt to comp us anything or get us some food quickly. We were so annoyed we paid our bill and left. On the way out, we told the owner about the poor service, and he was apologetic, but the lack of service from the waitress was unreal. The food looked good, and the tea and coffee we had was good, but its just a shame we never had a chance to try the shrimp and grits, which I've heard is actually quite tasty.

Love the new menu
I have been coming to Society for quite while and must say the new items on the menu are delicious, every single dish is very tasty. You have to try it. It's hard to choose a favorite dish. I do love the Grits though. The crew is fun and friendly, feels like a family. Free wireless is awesome, unlike other place you have to pay by the time.

great coffee
the coffee here is SO good, i dont know what they put in it but i love it! i've been a few times and the food is always really gooda little pricey though. however, they have a tiny kitchen and a small staff so i would suggest going at a time that's not going to be insanely busy just so you can enjoy the food and the atmosphere without being frustrated about the slow service.

Good vibe bad business
I've been dying for a coffeeshop and my neighborhood and though Society would be the answer. You walk in a immediately feel comfortabale in the brick walled, hardwood floor atmosphere. However, they need an actual Barrista. Espresso drinks and Chai are watered down and flavorless. I took to ordering Tea with honey until I was twice given tea with Maple syrup on accident instead of honey. I want to love this place but someone isn't paying attention. For a solid month everything I tried to order off the food menu was not there. Hummus? "we are out." "Salad? "Out." Pizza? "No Cheese." In the second month it came to the point where I'd ask if they were still out of things before even sitting down. "yes" someone would reply and I'd just walk out. I though if they say they were losing business by not keeping good stock of the things on their menu things would improve. It hasn't so clearly someone doesn't care very much. I'd like to see this place do well but seriously management has got to up their game.

frustrated!
I love the food and the vibe in this place, but every time I go it's a different story. They constantly change the hour that they start serving lunch, or they are out of this or that ... It's a little frustrating for someone with a prescribed lunch hour to get a good yummy sandwich! I don't need brunch at 1 pm on a Wednesday! Anyway, their food is great--when it's available!
