Socarrat Paella Bar

Overall a negative experience compared to other tapas places. Service was poor. They started bringing the food before the drinks. Tapas were served in a very illogical order: cold curated ham should come always first; hot and spicy plates like shrimp/gambas always last. They did just the opposite. Quality of food was just OK. Tortilla was good, but ham was horrible. We ordered iberic ham (vs. serrano ham which is cheaper) and we got something like plastic that was worse than the worst serrano ham. It was cut with a machine, rather than with a knife, this is too basic. Desert was very bad. We ordered the theoretically almond "turron" ice cream and we got an industrial poor quality whisky cake ice cream, seriously... Portions were small for the price. This is not a high cuisine place to serve such small portions. Price is always relative. In this case value for the price is very bad. Over all a negative experience and not recommended

Fried artichokes were superb. Thumbs up. With regard to paella I found it delicious but for my girlfriend it was a bit salty. Also, it would be good if Socarrat offers paella for one person. Overall very satisfied with the service although it was a little bit chilly in the restaurant.

Tried the new location of Soccarat the other night. Paella was good but not great. A bit salty. Portion was not that large and the meat and fish ingredients were really tiny and hidden within the rice. Plus, you have to order a double order as that is the minimum. Then, why show a single order price on the menu? Not much value here.

Went to this restaurant especially to eat the paella. When we were odering our food, we wanted to order some tapas & one portion of Paella. However, we were told that at dinner time we had to order 2 portions of paella(we were 2 people). We did not want 2 portions. Hence, we were unable to order the paella. I think the rule is not very customer friendly. We ordered some tapas & whatever we ordered was wonderful. The management should reaccess their policy afterall it is a Paella Bar.
