Service and Steak nothing special!
The service was poor and the food was mediocre. My colleagues and I will never go back again! Overrated! I would rather go elsewhere instead.

Better than most
Had new years eve dinner.great crowd in for a good time, good atmoshere and friendly waiters looked after us. steaks were great after some really lame food at other nyc eateries.could be cheaper and upstairs decor pretty basic for an upscale restaurant

Mr. Picky
Prices for steakhouses in New York City are truly absurd, and this place is no exception. There is no reason whatsover for a New York strip steak to cost $45, none at all. I had one last night and it was merely good, nothing more. For over $40, it should be GREAT. Steakhouses think that they can overcharge you just because of the portion size...and they're right. Fools like me and you keep paying for it. But not anymore. For this type of money (the meal for 2, with 2 glasses of wine each, came to $200), I should be blown off my feet. I wasn't.

Disappointing
We ate at the Grill, maybe the restaurant is better but we ordered the Fillet and lemon pepper chicken, I asked for the fillet Med/Well, it came out over cooked, tough and fatty. Was really surprised, you get a better Fillet at Capital Grille for the same price. Don't think I'd go back. The chicken was good though and the bar staff friendly

Overrated
To start, the service was horrible - Did not bring us our starters, AND still charged us for them. Had to ask 3 times for water. Food was very overpriced - would have been ok if it was half the price, but not good enough for what they charged. Overall - a big mistake!

Overated.
My mother and I went to S&W after hearing about their famous steaks. We had the same thing: salad-- overpriced and tiny portions, filet mignon-- ok, a side of wild mushrooms-- way too salty and overpriced, and chocolate mousse, which was average. I don't understand why people say it's the best steakhouse in the city. I think everything was overpriced and the food was average. The service was horrible-- the waiter was extremely rude and sarcastic. When our food arrived, he placed the plates down roughly and quickly walked away before we had a chance to get his attention. I will not be going back.

Touristy
The meat is sub-standard to the elite steakhouses in the city, the atmosphere is not inviting or luxurious, the service is rough, and the prices are higher than other steakhouses in the city. Other than the bartender from buffalo, there is not much worth going here for.
