    A very good Experience

Got there at about 1:30.Had just come from a Radio City Tour.We did not have reservations.Only had to wait five minutes. The restaurant week lunch was very good. The steak was cooked to order. The server was very good.Bread and desssert was also very good.Had to add a little extra to the bill for potatos.Other wise it was a very good experience.Did not order any drinks.

    Just as I remembered it!

Me & my husband went to S&W 4 years ago 3 times and had a fantastic steaks there each time. We have since then told all our friends about the steaks there & how fantastic they were! We went there this December 2011 with our friends & they were just as good as we remembered them! & now they are telling their friends about their visit there, so don't be put off by a bad review try there for yourself! Yum!

The most expensive dissappointment in town.

As a diplomat, I am seeing more of restaurants than I would like to (sometimes), but when I decided to take an important guest to Smith and Wollensky it was the ultimate disappointment. The wine was good, but came five minutes after the food arrived, the steak was ordered 'medium rare', but came well overdone, the side dish was dry and not hot. It was the most expensive disappointment I have had in town so far. There are many better and cheaper alternatives to this place, which is a shame for a restaurant that used to be a Manhattan landmark.

    Unappealing Steak

I had the filet mignon and it was disappointing. It had absolutely no flavor. The sides were not so appealing either. Don't waste your money.

    Glad I went

We got a crappy table, but the place was jam-packed, so it's understandable. The service was good and the food was superb. The steak (Colorado Rib Steak) was truly wonderful and the sides were also very good. We are happy that we went!

    Great steak, though pricey

I was born and raised in NY but have lived in Tokyo the past 25 years. On my infrequent trips to NY I want to eat in at least one "good" NY steakhouse and in this S&W did not disappoint. This was my first visit S&W and the steak was cooked to perfection, med-rare was just that and not overdone, the asparagus were tender and the hash-browns crispy and tasty. Our waiter was friendly and experienced but spoke with a eastern-European accent so thick he was hard to understand, but "dis is New Yoouwk so ya get used ta dat". Due to our limited budget we declined the wine and dessert menus and opted instead for coffee and espresso. Even so, dinner for two was well over $100, easily the priciest steak I've ever had, but, when in NY, splurge a little, the experience is worth it.

    Very disappointed

The steak and lobster are average. The asparagus is subpar, only very top part is tender enough to eat, and costs more than $12. Korean deli can offer much better quality asparagus than they do!
