Smith & Wollensky

The night started off with the finest waiter at Smith and Wollensky, Carl. Carl is informative, pleasant and makes you feel at home. We began with the seafood tower topped off with JUMBO stone crab claws. The shrimp, lump crabmeat and the lobster also on the tower was delicious! Then came the steaks. The Colorado Prime Rib Steaks on the bone were done to perfection. Also, one gentleman had the Filet Mignon. The Filet cut like butter and melted in your mouth. The side dishes consisted of asparagus, hash browns, creamed spinach and those outrageous onion rings. The sides were well prepared and married well with the steaks. The dessert's of cheese cake, coconut cake, and my favorite Apple Betty with the vanilla sauce was delicious for my sweet tooth. Also, Smith and Wollensky bottles there own wine, EXCELLENT. Another Great Steak Experience at NYC's Greatest Steakhouse. EXPERIENCE IT!

My third trip to NY and the third time I've been to S and W, this time I took the family. The steaks were superb but why do the staff make you feel like they're doing you a favour?! We waited 25mins after our booked time, and even then had to ask if we'd been forgotten about before we got a table. We paid the Bill with travellers cheques and then fully intended to leave the 15% tip as cash on the table even though the waiter was Scrooge. The waiter came back with the travellers cheques and announced, like a DJ, in front of all of the other diners, "The service charge is not included you know". If you can put up with the service, then the steaks are the tops.

I was disappointed with the lack of menu choices and the exhorbitant prices of mediocre food. The beef was good, sure, but not singing in my mouth like I have had at other steak houses. The side dishes here are just average. Probably wouldn't go back for seconds.

One of the best steaks I've had in the city. Other than that, the sides were just okay. Wine was good but too expensive. Go here for a great piece of meat but not the atmosphere.

Good decent steak, but not as good as the other big guns like sparks, peter lugers, or mark joseph. For some reason it didn't feel like a friendly atmosphere. Service was less than what I expected as well given the $$ pricey menu. The big thing was dessert which was very lacking and disappointing.

If you pay this sort of money you would expect top quality service to go with the great food. This was not the case. Didn't enjoy the service at all, but have to admit that the steak was very nice.

Received a gift card good for several restaurants including Smith and Wollensky. Went on a Monday night and was very pleased. Had Tomato and Mozzarella, shared a steak for two, creamed spinach and onion rings. Everything was great. Dessert was okay - looked better than it was. Don't know why, but waiter said first drink was on the house. Very nice touch. Overall, a very pleasant experience and a good meal.
