    At the end...

I've been trying many steakhouses but when I went back there I had to say that at the end Smith & Wollensky is the best...

    Consistent Excellent Fare

My colleagues and I treat ourselves to S&W a few times a year and we are always fat and happy when we come out. The "Usual": Seafood Appetizer for Two (Unbelievable), Cajun Filet Mignon (mouth watering), Creamed Spinach and Hashbrowns (must-have sides), White Chocolate Mouse filled Chocolate Basket with Raspberry Sauce (sublime). Don't care that its labeled tourist trap - Love that Smith & Wolensky! Can't beat the old-time male wait-staff. Hey, its expensive - by then - I'm Worth it.

    Not Impressed

The 16 oz. filet has 6 oz of fat and I've had better crab cakes in a cafeteria! We also had a very dry chocolate cake for dessert. Overall, the food is just not good, and I've been here several times- lunch and dinner, but I will not be suckered in to going back!

    Great Valentine dinner.

Food was great from appetizer to dessert. We picked out a bottle of wine and our waiter suggested another bottle and it was an excellent choice. Staff was very friendly and attentive. Would definitely go back.

    Valentine Bust

I was completely unsatisfied with the food. $45 for a NY strip steak and thought, because you are steak house with correlation to the price of the steak and the reputation, it must be very good. To my dismay a slab of fat was served on my plate. There was very little meat in it at all and what meat there was happened to be badly undercooked. I ordered it medium and it was rare. Additionally the meat that I did eat was very rough and did not taste good. Service was satisfactory.

    Consistently good

I've eaten here numerous times with family and friends and it's always delicious. If you like high quality steak and seafood, then this is one of the city's best. Steak is always prepared perfectly and the quality is excellent. Good sides to choose from including outstanding creamed spinach and hash browns. The Calamari, Jumbo Lump Crabmeat Cocktail, and shellfish are nice starters. It can get busy and quite loud but thats part of the New York Steakhouse experience. Great place for dinner with the family, nights out with the guys before partying, or even latenight snacks since the Grill is open til 2 am everyday. I will come back again and again.

    Another Great Steak Experience

The night started off with the finest waiter at Smith and Wollensky, Carl. Carl is informative, pleasant and makes you feel at home. We began with the seafood tower topped off with JUMBO stone crab claws. The shrimp, lump crabmeat and the lobster also on the tower was delicious! Then came the steaks. The Colorado Prime Rib Steaks on the bone were done to perfection. Also, one gentleman had the Filet Mignon. The Filet cut like butter and melted in your mouth. The side dishes consisted of asparagus, hash browns, creamed spinach and those outrageous onion rings. The sides were well prepared and married well with the steaks. The dessert's of cheese cake, coconut cake, and my favorite Apple Betty with the vanilla sauce was delicious for my sweet tooth. Also, Smith and Wollensky bottles there own wine, EXCELLENT. Another Great Steak Experience at NYC's Greatest Steakhouse. EXPERIENCE IT!
