I was there today for a sponsored business event. Hor Dorves were ok, but when I said I did not like onions, and 4 of the 5 hor derves had onions, did the waiter attempt to get me the one that didn't have onions? No! he just kept saying this one has onions! The fried calamari appetizer was over fried and salty. Requests for more bottled water were unattentive. Filet Mignon was requested medium rare... it came Well Done. Requests for more water unattentive. Dessert choices were 3 things according to the pre-selected menu. However the waiter was only able to serve one of the 3 things, and I had no interest in that item. The other 2 were acceptable but he told the table that he could not serve the other 2 items (ice cream and chocolate mousse cake) because "you know, the board of health is currently downstairs..." . I have no idea what that means, but I'm now wondering if I'm going to get sick later today. I wont mention that the waiters during the business presentation could have attempted to be a little quieter. So they failed on the food quality, atmosphere, value (if I was paying), and service.

First of all the steak was good, so you can be sure to get a good piece of meat. now on to the service. 1. Waited 10 minutes after being seated for a waiter to come over and give us bread /water. 2. In the middle of ordering the waiter literally stopped me mid-sentence, told me that another customer was "eye- balling" him and he needed to go take their order first. IN THE MIDDLE OF ME ORDERING, he walked away, and completely ignored my wife and i for the next 10 minutes. 3. My wife ordered a dessert for me for my birthday, prior to arriving at the restaurant. so when the waiter came over to take our order, he made it appear as if it was his idea to bring out a dessert for me. specifically saying "i was trying to get your wifes attention, but since you guys did not order anything i decided to bring out a dessert" to say my wife was livid would be an understatement. Long story short - never going back to S&W, horrible service experience and I would not wish that upon anyone looking for a NYC steak experience.

A group of waiters huddled near my table, gabbing obnoxiously. I couldn't hear my dining companion. I thought, at least a steak is coming. What came was a lame and uneventful filet mignon. I thought - this is the famed Smith and Wollenksy? A subpar piece of meat. This place is over. Many other steak houses to chose from.

We order Steak sandwiches for delivery. Almost 30.00 per head. I took one look and was disappointed. Greasy Chopped steak on greasy Garlic buns served with soggy French Fries.I took 3 bites and I had I've had better steak Sandwiches at a street fair for under 10 bucks. What a joke.

As a New Yorker and a lover of great steaks and outstanding service, I have never been disappointed at this restaurant. the waiters go above and beyond in assisting you and the food is divine.

Can't recommend this place enough - not the cheapest but so worth a visit!
