    Am I the only one...

...who was disappointed? I was so looking forward to eating here, being a mac n cheese lover since childhood, and hearing such good things about this place. After finally getting around to trying it, my initial reaction was... EH. It's good, don't get me wrong, but it's just not... wow. I got the Garden Lite, and the Buffalo Chicken. Both were creamy, a little too heavy, even. The Buffalo was highly sauced, making it pretty salty, and the veggies in my garden lite were almost nonexistent! All in all, I have to say the experience is mediocre at best.

Ideas for your next cooking attempt :)

Actually attempting to find another restaurant (further down the block it turned out), I wandered across this place and, being very hungry and having heard good things about it, decided to give it a go. The space is small but nice enough, and on this weekday evening was pretty empty save for off-work staff members lolling around, and people coming in and out to get take out. The atmosphere is very dark but with attempts to lighten it with mac n' cheese hued furniture and lights (read yellow and orange) of a very 'modern' look, and an oldies station on the radio that seemed obsessed with beach boys.... Anyways. Meals come in 4 different sizes, Nosh, the medium whose name I forgot, and the Mongo. For $4-6, the Nosh is a bit small imho, but the preparation and ingredients are pretty neat....well, they're not things I usually bother with in my kitchen anyways. I decided on the 4 cheese, though the Parisian and the la Mancha sounded especially tasty. Indeed, this place would be great to go once and then use the ideas for your own recipes back home. I esp liked that they added bread crumbs at your ok, one of my favorite additions to mac n' cheese. The meals, if you're dining in as I was, are brought out to you once they are prepared, the mac atop a sizzling platter nestled in a wooden tray to protect you and the table. This means that the cheese has a nice crisp quality on the edges (which I really like anyways), and that it stays warm for a long while. Taste was very good, akin to something I have paid much more for in 'gourmet' establishments. Was it worth the money overall? Perhaps not. However, considering that it is the same size really as the mac at other places (Au Bon Pain for instance), has lots of extra nifty ingredients if you want, is served on the hot plates, and isn't needing to be made in your own kitchen....well, I suppose it's not so bad a deal really after all. Oh, service. Guys are very polite if not exactly friendly. Service is efficient, place is clean. Indeed, one guy came out and began sweeping up where someone had [drop]ped their take out meal while I was there. Overall, good place for a lunch, and especially good if you are in NYC with a bunch of really picky eaters who can get boring mac and cheese while you try something more interesting.

Food was great - perfectly cheesy, flavorful and satisfing. Try the Parisianne with brie, figs and mushrooms! The staff was extremely good and made me feel comfortable that my gluten-free mac & cheese was in fact gluten-free. Atmosphere leaves a lot to be desired, but seeing that a nosh Mac & Cheese for $7 left me beyond filled I'm happy to not be paying for decor. A must try - especially if you're gluten-free and haven't been able to enjoy Mac & Cheese, or any sort of "real" food in a restaurant setting.

This place has really good mac and cheese - cheesy, greasy and great combos or make your own. I found it really delicious.

    Great food, but the delivery...

Have dined here had great service and Delicious food!!!! Very tight seating area so decided next time I will order and have delivered. Big mistake. First I place the order and the person sounded as if they just woke up. After waiting 1 1/2 hours I called to see what was the hold up. I was told that they came and called and were told no one placed an order. I never left my office so I know they never called me. Luckly I have eaten here and know what wonderful food they have and service in store. I will never call for delivery again.

    Super Duper Yummy

I am absolutely addicted to this place. They have amazing macaroni and cheese. I highly recommend the 4 Cheese. Although the wait can be long on the weekends...it is definitely worth it!!

I came here for lunch with my sister and we were able to stay for quite some time. We shared 3 nosh size plates- it was more than enough. The 4 cheese was excellent, the brie was very good too- if you like sweet- it's very different flavors with the figs, the mozzarella was good- but i would try a different one next time. Get with bread crumbs- really adds to the flavor. Wonderful mac n cheese- you'll love it.
