I Stayed at the Comfort Inn down the street. The deskclerk recommended this place and two other guests chimed in to give it their praise. I had the Rotini Putanesca. It was a shock to see it on a diner's menu and it was fantastic.

This diner is awesome! Normally you wouldn't expect much from diner food, but I can honestly say I have NEVER had a bad meal here! Even the more "adventurous" meals that you wouldn't expect to be up to par at a diner are amazing here. Fast friendly service, amazing food, and the price is right. I highly recommend.

Skylight is my favorite diner. I grew up in NYC and have been to a lot of them, but I'm proud to call this one my neighbor. It's been my mainstay since it opened what, 10 years ago? Somewhere around there. What a boon to the neighborhood and its residents. I was thrilled but far from surprised when the Daily News voted it best Manhattan diner 2005. GO! You will love it :)

I went with a friend and we both ordered chicken. The vegetables offered were string beans and broccoli. I asked the waiter if the vegetables were fresh and he assured me that they were. The string beans were the color of a faded army uniform. I exchanged them for the broccoli which looked fresh, but did not taste fresh. I guess if you want a lot of food and don't care how it tastes, this is good value.

I eat here very often right before heading to the theatre down the block. I have not been disappointed once! Excellent food great preparation, value and service. The brunch is outstanding! I'm not too crazy about the fries--Cheyenne diner (33rd) beats Skylight in that department.

We order from here 3-7 nights a week, and it's always great. I don't think we've ever had a bad meal from Skylight, and they're always very nice on the phone.

Came accross this diner by accident. A tip from our hotel about a diner on the corner of ninth and 31st led us to this one. I did not hear the tipster right and went to ninth and 34th. Upon arriving I spotted the Skylight Diner with a banner out front stating it was voted the best diner in NY for 2005 by the Daily News. We had a super evening meal at a great price with large portions. Went back the next morning for breakfast and had another super meal at a great price with large portions. Actually, the portions could be smaller and it would still have been a great deal. Highly recommend. The people were nice and the service was as good as you will get anywhere.
