    Not bad.

I write this review as I sit at the bar at Skinnys. I have a frozen margarita and 3 carnitas tacos. I have been in the hood for 7 months and have eaten in and ordered in numerous times. The ambiance is fun and tastefully decorated. Considering the new. Print building, their space is great. The food and service is average. The margarita is from a machine and was in front of me in 1 minute. The pork tacos were in front of me 2 minutes later. I am a taco fanatic. Love em. These are just OK. Soft tortillas, pulled pork, pickled red onion and a single slice of radish. The pork is average. The chicken and beef are equally average. The guacamole is pretty good. I happen to love the flautas. I am the only customer right now. The dinner crowd gets pretty busy. Always family friendly. The thing that bothers me is I asked if I could pay for the more expensive carnitas but get one chicken and two pork just to mix it up. Nope. Please? Nope. Ok, fine. The food is fine. The service is fine. The place is, well, fine.

    Location, location, location...

If it wasn't for the restaurant's prime location and lack of competition in the immediate area, they would not survive. The Mexican food for the city is below average and the service is poor. Since I live across the street I have given them 3 tries (3 too many). Two out of the three times they have gotten orders wrong. If you decide to try this place I suggest you stick with simple dishes. The more adventurous dishes seem to be above the kitchen's ability. I guess I will have to venture to Vernon...
