You get what you pay for
This is a take-out Indian place. There are plenty of tables for you to eat there, but no waiters. It's kind of like a fast-food Chinese restaurant where you get your food from the counter and seat yourself. There is water and cups available if you eat there (so you're not forced to buy a drink). This is a really cheap spot. Where else can you get a filling Indian meal for $6.50 incl tax (vegetarian)? The problem is, not only is it cheap for you, it's cheap for the restaurant. You definitely only get what you pay for. The curries, while very flavorful and spicy, are mostly gravy and little substance (and I'm talking about the vegetarian ones too, talk about being cheap with ingredients!). I ordered meat curries for my family, the shrimp curry was a few tiny shrimps in a whole pint of curry, and the chicken was only a few 1-inch cubes in a whole pint of curry. Even the peas curry! Pease are so cheap, and they were so sparse! I couldn't believe it! Spinach curry was very loose/watery, not thick and creamy. Very disappointing. Flavorful, but very little substance. For the low prices, what you get is basically just rice and tasty curry gravy. I used to go there for lunch regularly for the hearty lentil curries, but the quality has really gone down.

Poor service
I ordered food for delivery and they said it will take an hour. I was a regular customer so I waited patiently. The food never arrived and they didn't even bother to call back. Done with this place.

Satisfied
I ordered from Sirtaj the other day and got: Alu Gobi, Veggie Samosas, Naan Coke My order total including tip was 17 dollars...it would have been less but i accidentally said "two samosas" because i forgot they come in pairs. The alu gobi was pretty good, the cauliflower was relatively squishy, yet still firm. The potatoes were just right. And it was wonderfully spiced. The samosas were SOAKED in the oil they were fried in, so I had to towel them off, but other than that, they were delicious. The naan was a bit of a disappointment. Some parts were either too soggy or too dry. all in all, i'm satisfied.

Good food but opening hours are disgraceful
we have ordered takeout many times (never been into the place however) and the quality of the food is well above average. we would likely eat from them a lot more if they didn't close at so ridiculously early (8pm midweek and 7pm/5pm at the weekend).

not worth time and money
The food was terrible, i wish i'd never eaten it. There was no taste to it, the lamb biryani it was mostly rice and almost no meet or anything else, chicken tikka smelled like propane and was very dry, the samosa was ok, but not the best around. In the end i ended up throwing most of the food away, i will never come back there. Very disappointing, don't waste your money.

No Longer a Good Indian Take-out Place
We had always liked the Sirtaj -- good food and good value for take-out but had not been for a while. All of the dishes that we ordered this week were basically rice with a very, very little other ingredients -- not a good meal or value. There are so many alternatives that there is no longer any reason to go to Sirtaj.
