Almost as good as being in Turkey.

First I have to respond on the service/staff. The mgt and the young women who work there are extremely nice and helpful. (and good looking) Like virtually all ethnic food, some dishes are better than others, but the consistency here is pretty good. This busy retaurant is proof of that. Leeks and Celery Root combo a standout of many good appetizers, and the Red Lentil soup is savory and satisfying. On the main course side- most dishes are very good. Manti (little meat dumpings in yogurt sauce) is excellent and the Stuffed Cabbage wonderful. Of the many dishes I've sampled only the Chicken Shish was a disappointment large chunks too dry and unseasoned. Less 'turkish' but always good are the Grilled dishes like Salmon (and other Fish) and Lamb Chops. Delivery is very timely for Real Food cooked-to-order food.

This place is, unfortunately, just not good. Our food came out cold and the okra was hard. The hummus is surely not as good as advertised. They treat people very rudely and without care. Would never go back and highly recommend finding a different place for Turkish fare.

A great place to eat some seriously tasty food. The atmosphere could be better, but the menu offers a lot of variety, which is a great issue for big tables. The staff is always nice to us, no matter if I was with a Turkish group or a foreign group. Sometimes the wait can be a little long on the weekend, but in general the service and the food is pretty good. All the appetizers are great by the way!

I've been to Sip Sak three times, twice for late dinners and once for a Sunday lunch. Dinners were nothing too exciting - the meat dishes were usually quite nice, but the bread, rice, veggies, and many of the appetizers were mediocre they tasted like they'd been made hours ago, too many hours ago. The service has always been nice and fairly attentive when I've been there, even when it's been pretty busy. Everything was fantastic when I went for lunch one time though - that meal was certainly the best Turkish food I've had in New York, and I've been to a number of other Turkish restaurants that I found to be quite good. I guess you need to try to go Sip Sak earlier in the day when the food is all likely to have just been prepared and the kitchen hasn't gotten lazy. The atmosphere in the restaurant is pleasant enough.

I recently phoned Sip Sak cafe for some more information on their restaurant. I spoke with at least three people on the phone and every last one of them was so rude. It was such a turn off that I don't ever plan to go there. I also plan to tell everyone I know how rude and snooty they are. There are too many amazing places in NYC to eat and I refuse to give my hard-earned money to restaurants that have a bad attitude. Imagine if they are annoyed when they are cooking your food? Who knows what special 'surprise' they might add to your dish...Eat at your own risk!
