Portion control and raised prices
I used to frequent this place for years. Great food and great portions. Now they have shrunk the portions, raised the prices and changed the menu. Very disappointing.

Hadn't been here in awhile, will be back again soon
My wife and I live in the neighborhood, and had eaten at Sip Sak several times when we first moved to midtown. We stopped going for no good reason other than to try new places. On Sunday night went dinner and had a really pleasurable experience. The food was solid all around. The bread is delicious, and paired well with the smoked eggplant salad. I had the chicken shish, and the chicken tasted really clean and fresh. It could used a little more seasoning, but the rest of the plate was very appealing, with rice pilaf, a nice portion of salad, and cabbage. It was a lot more sides than normally come with in entree in NYC. My wife had the shepherd salad which she enjoyed, and was a very good portion for the price. Lastly the service was terrific. My water glass was never empty and there were a ton of staff ready to bring us whatever we needed (though this may have to do with going for Sunday night dinner).

Very appealing
We weren't sure what to expect but the waiters were very nice, helpful, and informative. Both dishes and our drinks were very yummy.

Still very, very good
I don't know what the other reviewers are talking about: I've been eating here at least once a month for the last 3 years and the food continues to be excellent. Last time I went w/a large group, most of whom had never been there and 1 of whom has visited Istanbul many times and all them were very pleased. The mezze and the grilled meats were real hits. The service was prompt and on point. As the person who suggested going there, I was relieved, as well as pleased w/the food & everything else. I look forward to going back soon.

Sadly this place has tanked
They had excellent food in the past but have gone downhill over the past year. It doesn't seem like they put any love into the food prep anymore.

Going downhill
I used to love Sip Sak--that is, I loved it when Orhan was there overseeing the food. Guess he's too busy with his new place, and this one is really suffering. Four of us ate here last night and nothing was quite what it should be, not even the lamb chops, which should be a no-brainer. Wait: the bread is still excellent. Come back, Orhan.
