Silver Spurs

In a city full of great food both fancy or cheap, Silver Spurs does not cut it. Living nearby I have tried it many times when hunger for a big burger has seized me and I always regret it. The burger is a big lump of steamed tasteless meat. if you want a platter you better be specific on every extra like Lettuce Tomato, fries pickle coleslaw because they will only bring you what you list otherwise you get a bland burger on a spongey bun. If you list the extras you get charged for them a la carte. This is no deal. I have also had delivery and though it's fast they change the price from the menu here and it's not a good experience. Try 5 guys right next door or the zillions of great cheap places in that neighborhood. Silver Spurs doesn't belong here.

We just moved to Laguardia Place and were thrilled to discover Silver Spurs. The breakfast was great and the service was as well. We plan to come often!

The service was absolutely subpar! We were not acknowledge/greeted when we walked in. We were not given menus nor water until about 10 minutes after we sat down and when they finally bought us menus they didn't apologize for making us wait. Our waitress, who looked like the manager, was rude, didn't make eye contact and barely spoke. I had to call her over for more water and coffee while she was having a grand o'l time chatting with her co-workers. The food quality was ok - not poor, just ok. The prices are good for the area and we didn't wait long to receive our food.

I've been to this place several times in the years that i've been in NYC. Each time, I've thoroughly enjoyed myself and the food. However, two friends and I went there on Friday afternoon and, as I tripped over a wet floor sign that I didn't see - my fault - I was never even asked if I was okay. The hostess just rolled her eyes and took us to our table where she dropped the menus off in a pile and walked away. First sight of rudeness. When our server finally came over, she never bothered to introduce herself and when the food came out wrong, she came back to my friend at the table to prove her wrong by saying that the food was right. The nerve! We were only given water once while we were eating and the server never came back after trying to prove that she got the order right until she came to take our plates away. Then, she made another server bring us our check (who was actually very very nice) and then made the hostess pick it up. When you're a server (and I know b/c i've been one) you work for the tips. you have to deserve them, not be given them b/c we're supposed to give u one.

I always get the same thing when I go there - 2 eggs over medium, french fries (not homefries - their krispy koated fries are deeelicious), sausage and toast. The breakfast sausage links are big, juicy, crispy skinned, proper english bangers - best anywhere. The senior waitress is the best - you're lucky to get her. I agree with all the other gripes about this place - the burger patties are way too enormous to be so tasteless, etc.. Any place with so big a menu is bound to offer up some dissapointments, but I will continue to come here for years - for breakfast.

I eat here regularly. The service can be hit or miss, but I think that's more to do with the attitude of the diner. Burgers are excellent. I'll be visiting again soon.

I ordered from Silver Spurs and was really disappointed. Their burger was huge, gray, tasteless, no lettuce or tomato or anything. The fries were okay, but the milkshake was watery. I will not order from them again.
