Really?
I've given this place two chances and each time the food was subpar and the service was mediocre. Oh yah and if you're a vegetarian don't bother eating here, all their veggie items are tasteless. I don't normally write reviews for food but this place really upsets me, you don't get the quality of food for the price they charge.

LOVE It!
Nice place to dine in the sun or enjoy the breeze inside. Food iS DeeLCIOUS! Lots of variety without having too large a menu, the brunch is so tasty-doesn't taste like your plate was put together on an assembly line like other local bruncheries, portions are large for the cost, they've got playful salads. Service is friendly too. Great job Sidewalk!

8 Years and Counting
After all this time, I'm still patronizing this authentic East Village treat. A relaxed atmosphere and a cooky staff make this a Village cornerstone. Affordable pricing to balance an already hard hitting recession. Watch out for the auburn haired waiter, you're guaranteed your drinks and food prompt and he sure is cute to boot.

Wow.
Tried to place a call for delivery tonight at about 9p. The first person who answered seemed bored and annoyed and passed me on to someone else (also annoyed and irritated) - who told me that the restaurant was closed, that they weren't delivering tonight. Not that there's anything wrong with having a private event (?) there (it was definitely loud - there was *something* happening tonight at Sidewalk) - but once again, the staff proved rude and unfriendly. I've lived in the neighborhood for about five years, and visited Sidewalk about three times - each time figuring, 'aw - I'll give them another chance maybe it was an off-night last time'. They just lost me for good.

poor service; serving average food
I live literally right across the street from this place, and was pretty stoked when I first moved in because I'd eaten here once or twice and thought the food was pretty decent for a neighborhood diner/dive. I'm sorry to say that I now routinely walk past the Sidewalk on my way to anywhere that doesn't serve up their food arrogantly.

Incompetent, unaccommodating "chef"
I went to SideWalk last nite at a few minutes after 4AM. I ordered the nachos but requested them without chips but wanted guacomole and chicken, each being an additional $2. I explained clearly I wanted it just like they always come minus the chips. The chef puts every ingredient in a ramekin and gives the waiter a cold plate to serve me. I explained again that I wanted the cheese MELTED with the other ingredients they melt with it. The waiter takes it back to the chef and the chef REFUSES to do this! What?! No deduction in price for the noncooking of my food or anything. I'm so mad over it. SideWalk needs to let go of this chef. You don't need to be working as a chef if you can't attempt to accomodate dietary restrictions within reason.
