It's gotten much better!
This place rocks! literally! Free music and the vibe is what the East Village is supposed to be. The food was lacking in healthy stuff, thus the lack of a star, BUT seriously one of the best veggie burgers i've ever had, really warm and creamy homey mac and cheese, my girlfriend drooled over the Sidewalk Burger (i don't eat meat, but she loved it) and a lot of reviews seem to complain about the service here but we LOOOOOVED our waitress. She wore sparkly eyeshadow which totally matched her personality and when i asked her where she got it from, she literally went and got the make up for me, and wrote it down on a piece of paper for me!! talk about full service! She recommended the spiked milkshakes for dessert and.....cake and cupcakes are no longer necessry after a Smores milkshake. Soooooo good! She was honest about what she liked & brought my GF and i shots simply because we told her how much we loved this place and wanted to come back! thats a damn good way to get repeat customers and we definitely will be! we've already planned a brunch bday celebration for this weekend!

New Suit,bad business
Loved Sidewalk prior to the revamp. When it finally reopened I went to check it out and I gotta say they really dropped the ball. The food is terrible and what service? I saw the waitress once and that was to bring us water. She never returned. The food was mediocre at best. My boyfriends steak sandwich arrived with none of it's topping and soggy fries. My sandwich wasn't much better. Sidewalk needs to return to the menu they had prior, the options were better and the prices were friendlier. They just gussied themselves up in a new suit but remain to sell the goods. It's a pass from here on out.

Not Yet
Well it's reopened, and I was hoping for better in the food department. Best I can say is I haven't seen Sysco trucks delivering food products. Although the menu has changed , I'm sad to say that it is off beat. Just because it's the East Village doesn't mean people will eat just anything. Get a grip .

Reliable
Good wings and friendly service. Really all you need at a place like this.

the food is just not good
sidewalk thrives on two things: 1) tourists looking for some outside dining in the e.v. and.... hm. maybe it's just one. as a 20-year ev resident, i've eaten here quite a few times over the years, and the food just continues downhill. the last time i ate there was the last time. it's just not good.

Outside Seating ONLY redeeming quality
Nothing is here is of quality. I've been going to Sidewalk to here the live music in their Bat Cave in the back for 8 years. They still haven't figured out how to install lights back there so you can see the mediocre food you're eating. The staff seems all too cool for school - too cool to be your "server". The food is tasteless and made with Sysco-grade ingredients. Sidewalk cafe barely tries to be a good restaurant and they get a big fail from me. At least there is TV to watch.

the waiter guy is awesome
the apple brie and avocado sandwich is excellent. nachos are also tasty. and the waiter guy that has been there for 7+ years is awesome. its sidewalk and its a great standby every time. thanks sidewalk!
