shun Lee west has gone WAY downhill..
Indifferent service. Fair food. All meals looked alike even though all were different. Entrance smells like bleach. Fixtures and restrooms are worn and need updating. Not good at all after a long and good reputation. Would never go back

Tired food, tired decor, tired staff.
What did three of us get for $255.00 ? A "whole" peking duck that was was the size of an underfed parrot, with tough meat, unforgetable dumplings, two tasteless main dishes, one beer, and one ice cream-served by an inattentive wait staff just going through the motions. The reception area and dining room badly need redecorating, and the men's room was so dirty that it should have been closed.

Yummy
Good food. Sesame chicken is great. I only wish they would expand their menu.

Still good, but...
We have been eating here for years and always enjoyed it. We went last week and although the food is still good, and the service was too, the place has really gotten a little seedy. It needs to be spruced up and it is time to renovate that restroom in a back corner of the restaurant that looks like it is in a storeroom!.

Go for the dim sum, and that's it
I've been going to Shun Lee West and the Cafe for years, and recently had dinner in the main room after a hiatus of 1-2 years. The quality of the food has deteriorated tremendously. The special wonton soup for 2 was salty, and there was nothing "special" about it. Lobster in black bean sauce was also salty - the lobster was fresh and good, but overwhelmed by the saltiness of the sauce. Peking duck was so-so, and certainly not as good as I have had in other less expensive restaurants. Dinner for 4 was $225 without gratuity. The weekend dim sum brunches at the adjoining Cafe have always been wonderful, but haven't been there in about a year, so I would have to wonder if they have maintained the same quality as in the past. You can get much better Chinese food for less money elsewhere. Very disappointing.

Disappointing
We ordered jumbo prawn and a vegetable dish called Buddha's Delight. The prawn were small in number and badly overcooked. The vegetable dish included good mushrooms and other vegetables but was overwhelmed by cheap broccoli (which I dislike). A minute dish of rice was included and it was barely lukewarm. Feeling still hungry, I ordered some vegetable shrimp rolls from the dim-sum cart. These were excellent. In all, this was a disappointing dining experience, although the service was professional.

Good food, poor service and noisy
The food at Shun Lee West is -- on the whole -- quite good; but the service is poor (we had to ask them three times and return one dish before they remembered not to dish up our food in individual portions, and they watch you with eagle eyes so that once you finish a course they rush up and bring the next one); and the restaurant is very noisy once it begins to fill up. At the exorbitant prices they charge, they could afford to do something about both of these defects...
