Highly Recommended
This stuff is for real. The bread is the #1 reason why other cities usually can't get the cheesesteak and other Philly-style sandwiches right, and the bread at Tony Luke's is perfect: crusty on the outside and soft on the inside, such as is otherwise almost impossible to find in NYC. The cheesesteak and roast pork are my favorites, but the chicken cutlet is also excellent. If you've only experienced a roast pork sandwich in its dried-out "cold cut" form, give it a second chance at Tony Luke's. It seems like most of the negative reviews are from people who ordered out for delivery. Expecting some poor soul to schlep over in your direction to deliver your food to you is a New York conceit. If you walk there and back, you'll burn off some of the calories you're consuming.

Roast Pork Italian
Excellent sandwiches -- but everyone only mentions the cheese steak, the best sandwich is the "Roast Pork Italian". It is a wonderful melding of tender roast pork, provolone and broccoli rabe. And the spicy "Italian Fries" are addictive. The only issue I have is that the lunch delivery is very slow -- you need to order at least 1 hour in advance even in the delivery zone.

Good food
The food is great for the price. I just had an argument with one of the workers who take the orders. Other than that, EXCELLENT.

Best in the city
Without a doubt, this is the best Philly Cheese Steak in New York City. No other place in NYC can compete with Tony Luke's. No wonder everybody craves it in South Philly! The food is great, the service is good, and I even like the surroundings of the place! Tony Luke's in NYC doesn't have any kind of floor, just the New York City sidewalk to give the place a nice street -like feel. Although the sandwiches do happen to be expensive, it's worth every penny! The sandwiches are huge and the taste is to die for. I recommend this place to anyone who is ready to taste the best cheese steak they've ever had.

This is the real deal
I just had Tony Luke's in NYC it was just like the Tony Luke's in South Philly where I live my whole life its was great. The guy who wrote the post before me does not know what he is talkin about. First off, I know for a fact that all the food is shipped up from philly because when I went there the big tony luke truck was delivering food. So there is know way the steaks a different. Second Pats, Geno's, and Tony Luke's all used diced onions in Philly. Third, not that many places use Amoroso's bread anymore not even Geno's and that's all he used to use. Pluse Tony Lukes never used them. They always bake their bread fresh in the store daily. I loved it next time im in NYC I'll stop back.

This ain't Philly
After 12 years of eating Geno's, Pat's, Jim's, and the original Tony Luke's, I have to say this ain't the real deal. The person on the phone was very nice and they even delivered outside their normal range which is pretty wide. The wrappers were soaked in grease, so I needed a lot of napkins. The cheesesteak itself was not good. The meat was too thick and tasted like roast beef. The Whiz wasn't the real deal and it tasted like a fake generic brand. The onions were diced instead of long and stringy. The bread was too hard and not Amoroso's, which is necessary. My search continues.

Stop ruining our favorite spots!
Tony Luke's is the best cheesesteak in Manhattan, everyone agrees (except whoever got the fishsteak below). We were hitting them up twice a week when they opened. Eventually an article was posted about them and now it's flooded with yuppies and hipsters. OK, that's all fine and dandy- good for them... However, delivery is now out of the question. But if you're not concerned about eating healthy and are in walking distance, Tony Luke's will definitely fill that void in your stomach with amazing tastyness. The Italian fries are great, but we don't recommend eating them unless you have a place to take a nap for an hour after lunch.
