    Poorest service ever!

I'm so disappointed. Been ordering from Haru many times- no the food is not great but it is the only place that deliver to our area. Last time we called I was put on hold several times while the girl took other orders. I had some questions and she was not happy to answer them. After calling back she once again was rude. I will never order from Haru again and are not happy being treated like that as a paying costumer.

    Poor customer service

We ordered $50 of sushi - not worth it. The Fire Dragon Roll arrived spoiled - smelled rotten. We called to tell them about it, assuming they would be very apologetic. To our dismay, we were told that we were wrong, that it was not bad and that it was "their way of preparing the fish." We told them we wanted a refund because it was inedible. They proceeded to argue with us, put us on hold for five minutes, and then told us they would offer a 50% credit (off that roll = $6) because if they gave everyone a full refund that asked for it, they would go out of business. That is a very good point. Clearly it happens often.

    Not recommended

Sadly the food is great but the service is poor! I have ordered a soda on my last 3 orders and they have not included them. Once I called and tell the woman on the phone she tells me to look more in the bag. I will not be wasting my time or money on them.

    Not So Fresh Sushi

They say you should never eat sushi on Sunday, so you would expect Monday's sushi would be especially fresh. That was not my experience with Shitake. Here is what bothered me. It was dead, and it seemed like business had taken a hit. There is a large aquarium blocking the sushi bar from the rest of the dining room, and the only way you can see the bar is if you sit in front of the kitchen door. My sushi came from the kitchen v. the bar, too. The fluke was tough, slimy and stinky. I am sure they knew but figured I wouldn't say anything, since my order was takeout. I noticed they have the same specials as Geido, so maybe they're competing for the lunch crowd. I will just say that this was some of the worst sushi I've had in a while, and I was feeding clients, so I'm very upset about this.

I keep coming back for more...

So here's the thing. I've actually had a couple of problems when ordering for delivery. Once my order was incorrect another time the delivery guy walked into my apartment building and up to my door without ringing the bell...a little startling. But the customer service is bar none. The order was corrected in less time than it took to get the original order, and as for the delivery guy--well I complained, I felt heard and it never happened again. Now for the food, well it's excellent. I'm making my way through the menu and have only ordered the same thing twice--Fried Calamari. Which is why I keep coming back despite the minor problems. I've never been to the restaurant so I don't actually know about the atmosphere but I would imagine that it's lovely. Overall great food and great customer service=high marks!

    Extremely fresh sushi!

A new sushi restaurant in Park Slope? At first glance it doesn't look like much, but once you order, you will be surprised! They have some of the freshest fish/sushi in park slope! The presentation is artful, the portion sizes are plentiful, and the taste rivals near by favorites. I highly recommend giving this new gem a try.
