    I love the outdoor tables!

    We had discovered this place late on night, when we wanted a cup of coffee at one a.m. We loved the photos of Nepal. After several more visits, when summer came I was delighted to find that there are pleasant outdoor tables, with an awning for shade. The staff recognizes me and always makes me feel welcome.

    Small place, but great good and price

    I've lived on the UWS for 4 years and recently discovered Shining Star 2 blocks away after one late night. It's a plus they're open 24 hours. Being such a small place I never realized the food could be that good. Definitely reasonable in term of price price, and I now get delivery all the time.

    A++++

    The amount of food you get for the price is unbelievable (A LOT OF FOOD) Great people and service, they are very friendly, they makes you feel at home.

    What won't people put up with

    30 BUCKS! That's what pancakes and an egg & cheese sandwich with a side of fires and two coffees ran me. The pancakes are too doughy, the egg and cheese greasy even by greasy spoon standards. The bagel I ordered came as sesame seed and than I was told that's all they had. Not while I was ordering - after. The fries are microwaved frozen fries (which I ordered, and asked for confirmation, extra crispy. What they came as was extra soggy.) Maybe its the fact that all this added up to 30 bucks. Maybe its the fact that the server failed to tell me about the sesame seed bagel or the fact that they can't make fries any crispier than soggy. Maybe its all that. Regardless I'll never do it again.

    Not so clean, fast, or friendly

    After the positive reviews here, we went to try his place for lunch. It was unclean, the food was overpriced, and we had to practically jump out of our seats to get any service. We won't be going back.

    Diet Be Damned

    I'm constantly on a diet, but when I saw Buckwheat pancakes with sugar free syrup, I couldn't resist. I placed a generous amount of butter on each fluffy side and ate to my heart's content. The eggs were nice, the coffee was slightly weak and the tomato juice was cold, but the Buckwheat pancakes were enough for me to come back to this restaurant again and again. The restaurant is not fancy on any scale, the serving staff was friendly and if you enjoy breakfast, this is the place for you.
