This place used to be a NYC hot spot - lines out the door, ownership by Oprah, Denzel, other celebs. I went there 5 years ago, and the food was top noch Southern beautifully presented with an extremely competent waitstaff. Well. Returned tonight for a business dinner, and what. a. mistake. The place has clearly changed owners - the waitstaff is careless - our waiter in particular rattled off the specials with such a thick Mumbai accent that none of us could decipher what he was saying. The food took forever to come out, and when it did, the mashed potatoes were lukewarm to cold, the mac and cheese congealed chunks floating in little grease puddles, and the oversauced St. Louis ribs were mostly fat. In short, the plate had clearly been microwaved, and then left to sit. My dinner companions had similar experiences - the meatloaf dinner was tasteless, unless you consider an overpowering oregano taste desireable, and the shrimp etouffe was some anonymous mess in brown gravy. VERY disappointing. Would not return at gunpoint.

I took 2 friends to eat here the other day for their birthdays. We had a small issue with seating at first. But once we sat we had a good time. Food was on point, but def not worth the price. You could get the same for cheaper at The Pink Tea Cup. Service was not great at all. I dont recommend you come here for service. The girl we had acted like she just wanted the day to be over. She kind of rushed us through our meals and i hated that. We asked to see a desert menu and she just rattled off 2 deserts annoyed like. Anyway my friends and i had a good laugh at that as it was unnecessary and i still tipped her well. But i just didnt see anything that would bring me back.

Everytime I am in New York, I eat at the Shark Bar. I would highly recommend it for a small party to eat for dinner. It is not very big on the inside, but what more would you expect in NYC. I wouldn't reccomend it for a large party because of the seating. I have never had a problem with the wait staff either.

I travel a great deal and eat at many establishments across the country . the Shark Bar, which has been open for i believe over 15 years never disappoints. I know what I am going to get and they are consistently good

I return to the Shark Bar every year to celebrate my Birthday since i was invited 5 years ago to meet some friends for one of their birthday celebrations. They bring you large portions - and the staff is always pleasant and warm. I feel like it is home now when my birthday comes around.

Went to the Shark Bar Restaurant last Thursday. I was greeted by a very very pleasant and striking hostess. I was with three friends and we were seated right away. It was not that busy but there was a good gathering of people. The food was excellent. I can see why they have been opened for 20 years.

I have to say, the reviews were great here but i did not have a great experience. DO NOT GO HERE For big gatherings or birthday parties... the wait staff was rude and not very pleasant. My friend had a birthday, and it killed the mood. Of note, we spent hundreds of dollars here... I spoke to the manager shortly after our visit, and she seemed like she did not care whatsoever... decent food but poor poor service... there are hundreds of restaurants that have great food plus GREAT SERVICE..
