    Do not Go Here!

Do not go here unless you want warm fish meat rolled in stale rice topped off with chewy seaweed wrap. Waiter was not just non-chalant, he did not care that we did not have soy sauce (shouldn't this be a staple at a sushi place?) or even the right order. Sushi Lovers beware. Not sure about the good reviews, maybe this place has spiraled downwards the past 6 months.

    manager spoke lo loud

yesterday nigth i went to sharaku to have dinner with 3 of my friends, server was great, i got everyting that we ordered without have to wait for long time, in the middle of our dinner, we heard someone spoke so loud, i thought someone was in argument, after i found out from my server, i just knew that the manager of the restaurant was speaking with sushi man in sushi bar, but the problem was, they spoke to loud, and we couldnt have a good dining on that time, i cant imagine how come a manager do that in dining room, dinning room should be a not noisy like yestarday, but maybe this is they culture. Hopefully the management want to care about this issue.

    awesome food

the food was very fresh, the sushi was amazing... the seaweed was still crunchy... the raw salmon seemed like the fish was just cut up. the service is very good and the green tea free refills are great. we had a dinner with 5 friends and just hung out for 3 hours there, it was a really good time. definitely recommend for a date or any kind of event!

    Great place...nice and affordable

I've been to this restaurant countless times, and have always immensely enjoyed the shashimi, and the Udon noodle soups. I love their tempura, and top it off with Green Tea icecream....all of which is excellent. The staff is always very very nice, and it's never too crowded...even on New Years Day.

    As good as it gets

Four of us came on Customer Appreciation Day. Ordered 12 different rolls at $2 each, $3.75 gyoza and $9.75 nabeyaki udon. All fish were fresh, noodles soft and plentiful with lots of extras (2 shrimp tempura, egg, mushrooms, chicken) in tasty broth, salmon skin was extra crispy. Service was prompt, efficient and attentive. Atmosphere was quiet on 2nd floor clean and well designed, with nice window view. Heard a lot about this placelived up to hype. Even not on special rate days, the prices seem fair.

    To the cheap reviewers

Im sorry, but as a waitress, I find it reprehensible that people complain at being forced to pay an 18% service charge. That should be the minimum - at least among educated, upper class people. If the servers at Sharaku find it necessary to charge you a servic charge, you must be notoriously famous for being a cheapskate. You must consistently fail to pay the at least 15% (and knowing the area as I do, I would say this is a 99% accurate assessment) and the only reason they charge you the basic minimum is that you are such cheap people that you balk at even paying 10-15% for a tip. So, good for the waitresses that force you to pay a living wage. Waiters in this city make 4.65 an hour, and are expected to tip 30 percent of their tips to support staff. Tipping the proper amount is important and just because you are pathetically tacky, low-class and cheap does not excuse you from following common courtesy. In short, if they service charge you, it is probably because they remember your face and know you never tip more than 15% percent. You should be ashamed that you are known as a cheapskate, and that you refuse to pay what any person with any education knows is proper. In conclusion, tip your waiters. No one will automatically add a tip unless you are famous for being cheap. to avoid all problems, tip 20% every time you go out to eat, and you will find that your waiters, once they know you are worth their time, will treat you like royalty. And you will never complain about service again, you cheap tacky little people.

    great casual atmosphere, delicious sushi

I have also been going here for years at this east village sushi joint, Sharaku. I must say, their sushi is absolutely delicious!! I love the renovated 2nd floor, and the overall atmosphere is a great casual atmosphere. I would recommend Sharaku to anyone who loves sushi! You will be satisfied!!!
