Best Korean-Chinese Restaurant in midtown, NYC!

I visit Shanghai Mong whenever I miss their Mapa tofu rice and lemon cream sauce dumpling. I know most of the customers only know about jjajangmyun or jjambbong which are Shanghai Mong's well-known main dishes. But I want to recommend you other menus like rice dishes or seafood/shrimp dishes because they are also really great. If you want some soup which is not spicy (and okay with seafood), Nurengi tang (scorched rice with seafood soup in hot pot) would be a good choice for you. It's tasteful and has a bunch of seafood! Feel healthy. For shrimp dishes, I love chili shrimp!!! so delicious! You can also enjoy lunch special under $10 which is a good deal in manhattan. Volume is huge and the taste is decent. Side dishes are very nice, staffs are caring and friendly. Tip: If you check-in, you can get free spring rolls! They open for 24 hours, so if your groups are lost in the middle of night in manhattan, go to Shanghai Mong and enjoy their late night special which starts from 9:30pm and lasts all night!

    Best Korean-Chinese food

This place serves Korean-Chinese food, which is different from American-Chinese food. So I wouldn't order general tso's chicken from here, but rather sweet and sour pork or the spicy garlic chicken. I wouldn't expect good lomein, but get the brown sauce noodle or the spicy seafood soup noodle. This place makes better food than some of the places I visited in Korea!

    Consistently delicious

I have been here several times, both dine-in and takeout, and the food is always fantastic. Service is usually very good as well. It's slightly on the pricey side but I package up half my meal as leftovers to help with that. They give you more than enough to have leftovers.

    Great Chinese

I am food snob. I don't like grease, oil or fatty foods. This place is great. Ordered Beef and Broccoli, Fried Rice with Pork and The General's Chicken. Not the most adventurous, but you can't run before you walk. Well, this place can walk. Delivery was fast. Will order again.

    Good value all around

This place has become one of my favorite Chinese restaurants in NYC. The restaurant offers good food at a reasonable price. The atmosphere is consistent with its price level - nothing fancy and pleasant. Their service on the other hand, is not consistent however, there are more good days than bad. What's most important is that their food is consistently good - from their simple noodle dishes to elaborate sea food entrees. My wife and I go there almost every week now.

    Best Food & Worth Waiting

Me and my wife went there several times and tried a variety of food there. WE LOVE ALL!! Their seafood dishes are just amazing** You can eat chinese food in luxurious surrounding!! Butthere was one minus point-waiting. Famous place with limited seatings eventually results in waiting.....But But it is definately worth waiting for your table for 10 min+ for great food & your date!!!!!!!!

Do You Know What to Order?

If you want to get a good sense of what this restaurant is all about, order either the JJA JJANG MYUNG or JJAM BBONG. They are both noodle dishes and the absolute best from their entire menu. Remember this is Chinese fused with Korean styles.
