Ladies & Gentlemen, We Have a Winner!
I've lived in Greenpoint for eight years now, and I am kicking myself for never having tried Shang Hai Lee until today. The food is excellent. The service is incredibly friendly. They have both Chinese and Thai food. I will never order from another Chinese aside from Shang Hai Lee again.

pretty good
above average for NYC, 5 stars for greenpoint/williamsburg/ and anywhere not Brooklyn Chinatown. the nice part is that, unlike most chinese takeout/delivery places, meat dishes aren't 95% vegetables and the vegetables don't taste like plastic.

The BEST Chinese in the hood...
Honestly-- they uses the freshest ingredients, and offer interesting dishes aside from your basic Chicken and Garlic Sauce. I am obsessed with the Manchurian Chicken and they let you substitute with Lamb?! This is high end, quality Chinese food... at long last.

Best Chinese Food in Greenpoint and WB
Basically, this is great Chinese food...very fresh and flavorful and bridges the gap between more high end Chinese food and excellent take-out style Chinese without the grease and 'mystery meat' aspect. Also the portions are generous but not to generous to make you regret the lump in your stomach from other Chinese eateries that make you regret 'polishing off' the entire portion....it's all about quality over quantity. But again, it will definately fill your body. With my 6 foot frame and huge appettite it also takes care of business for me. So if you want the 'umph' from Chinese food go down and sit-in and eat or have it delivered from a very professional, curtious, and prompt delivery man who also looks to be the owner. When my Mom came in town, the hostess took a little time to explain the great half oranges that they serve when you dine in. When you dine out, make sure they give you those little chinese pickles and sometimes they may even send some pineapple. I personally like the half Peking Duck which is served with fresh and think slices cucumber, a dark seat sauce and mooshoo-esque pancakes. You have to try this place.
