    Surprised

i'm surprised this place has so many bad reviews. I think it is bay far the best Chinese food in Greenpoint. I order for delivery often, and I always get it very quickly (I am only 6 blocks away though). The price is a bit higher than Green leaves or any of those other hole in the wall Chinese restaurants, but it tastes MUCH better, and they have way better options. I love that they have avocado salads, with the carrot ginger dressing, the dressing is SO good. I also love their Pork Lo Mein and Shrimp Me Fun Noodles.

    An hour for delivery

The title says it all. We live a 15 minute walk, 5 minute bike-ride from this place...

    Poor, overpriced food

Out of cash, with a sesame chicken craving, I chose one of the few Chinese restaurants in Greenpoint / Williamsburg that accepts cards. The woman on the phone didn't miss a beat in taking the order, and took the time to warn me that the rice I'd ordered may not be what I was expecting. She immediately relayed the total and the expected wait time. The food was a big letdown, and sadly most of it went to the trash. The sesame chicken ($5.95 lunch special) was dry and hard, and a little burned. Clearly it wasn't fresh, and ultimately inedible. The fried rice it came with was unpleasant - no flavor, greasy and a gritty texture. The spring roll was pretty good. The pad thai ($5.95 lunch special) was ok, the noodles were overcooked, but the flavour was there at least. The house special friend rice at $9.95 was the biggest letdown - no flavor, not much meat, greasy and ultimately inedible. The crab rangoons $4.95 were small, dry and tasteless. Extra disappointing bc I love crab rangoons! Would not order from them again.

    Pretty good

I haven't had any issues with delivery myself. Everytime I call they know my address and never have to ask, and delivery comes within 25 minutes usually. The food itself is pretty good, in the style of casual new york chinese (think standard takeout fare). My favorites are the fried baby shrimp, chicken and rice soup and eight treasures rice in coconut milk desert.

Best Chinese in Williamsburg, if you ever get it.

Normally the best, but I don't think I can ever order from them again. I have been patronizing Shanghai Lee's delivery for my Williamsburg chinese food fix for about a year now, ever since I discovered them. The food is delicious. Tonight it all went to pieces. I placed my order, nothing fancy, and it took a full hour and 45 minutes for the food to get to my door. Nearly two hours. I cannot think of any food service that should ever take this long. I called them at the hour marker to "make sure it was coming," then again at the hour and a half marker to say, "are you serious?" The first time she told me it was on it's way, and they second time she told me it had already been delivered. It hadn't, and when it finally did it wasn't really warm. I like Shanghai Lee a lot, and I allow them to take an hour usually... it happens.. and the food is pretty good - but the possibility I will have to wait two hours for my chicken and broccoli is something I cannot face. Looks like it's Chinese Musician Restaurant for me again. So long Shanghai Lee, it was fun while it lasted.

    Tasty & Delicious

This is by far the best Chinese in da hood. I have traveled extensively in China and it's the closest of the cheap chinese variety that I have ever had. Still very chinese American, but really leaps and bounds beyond the regular cheap corner take-out spots! Highly recommended.
