I was shocked and not in a good way
I am a huge fan of burgers and have tried several different burger joints throughout the city and I honestly was shocked at how mediocre this burger was. I had a double cheese burger and it was not what I expected at all after rave review and rave review. The line was not that long so I cannot complain about the line but the food was so disappointing. I did like the fries but if you are a true fan of the burger save your time and money. There are so many better options than the Shake Shack.

Awesome Food!
Yes the line is way long but it’s worth setting aside some time to check this out (or come on a not-great weather day or odd timeslot for a shorter line)… It’s worth the hype! The burgers are AWESOME – flavorful & moist. The fries are excellent as well. The frozen custard is spectacular. They have so many delicious sounding things on the menu that I’ve haven’t even tried yet but I hope to in the future. There's a big payoff after waiting in line, if you've got the time - it's amazing to eat this food while enjoying a nice spring/summer/fall day... (if I withstood cold weather better, I'd have included winter there)!

Overrated, strictly for tourists
This is the Magnolia cupcake of burgers. I grew up in Manhattan, have lived here my whole life, and I always wondered if the the burgers here were any good. Today I stood on line for 25 minutes and the food lived completely down to my expectations. I like the setup and eating in the park but I wouldn't wait on line for THREE minutes to eat this stuff again. There are so many better hamburgers elsewhere in NYC. This isn't even as good as most coffee shop burgers. Believe the hype only if you choose to. (The shake was pretty good though!)

Great simple gooey burgers!!
So after hearing about this place on the food network, travel channel, etc.. I decided to prepare myself for the line and brace myself for disappointment. That never came thankfully, even though the line was long, since it was nice out you barely care. As i walk up to place my order I was expecting maybe some type of blah "what do u want & order quick" type of attitude. Pleasantly the staff was wonderful and very friendly, i almost want to do a repeat apperance today!! The burger was moist and yummy i kept on making the homer simpson noise "mmmmm"...

if you have the time to wait....
they make a great burger! and great fries! i never going during peak hours (which is getting more and more difficult) because i won't wait 1/2 hour or more for a burger, but if you don't mind hanging out the burgers are great. the prices are fair. the park is pretty...well, yeah, maybe the birds are a little annoying, but it's a park!

Um, I don't know how to say this but to just say it. Shake Shack is the best damn burger in all of NY. Perfect bun to meat ratio, fresh lettuce and tomato, CraCK! i mean Shack Sauce which must have crack cuz it's addictive, delicious, and makes you twitchy when you havn't had Shake Shack in a while. The cheesey fries...melt in your mouth goodness. Go here. Go Here. Actually stay the hell away so the lines are shorter for when I go.
