    Eh. Good, but...

Yeah, it's a pretty good burger. Is it worth the wait? No. Save yourself from the inevitable disappointment an hour-long wait engenders, and try to go when it is 20 min or less. Then again, just about anything would taste good when you've been waiting that long. The portions are on the small side, too. The Shack Sauce is decent - but 0.75 for a blob of sauce when they only change 0.50 for cheese? I suppose I should be happy they don't change 1.50 for a slice of cheddar the way some other places do.

    Yum!

Where else in NYC can you sit outside in a park and eat great food at a reasonable price? The Shroom Burger and cheese fries are delicious. Highly recommended.

    Tasteless

OK, I waited until I went on two different occasions before passing judgment. All I can say is that the burgers I had were absolutely tasteless! They were over-cooked and had less flavor than a McD Quarter pounder. I thought the burgers were supposed to be cooked medium if you don't specify. The first time I had it (without specifying how I wanted it done), it was dry and over-cooked. The second time I specified medium, and it was exactly the same: dry and over-cooked. I suppose I should try medium-rare now, but I have no desire to go back there. It is absolutely mystifying how these can be considered great burgers. And please don't insult my intelligence by saying my expectations were too high; and that the long wait clouded my judgment. Nonsense. They are mediocre, at best.

    All Hype

Decent burger, huge line, basically a waste of time. You don't need to buy their food to sit in Madison Square Park - so that doesn't count for much in my book. Many better burgers just blocks away. I guess it is more a destination than a meal...

    Not good custard

This place is hyped as having excellent custard (ice cream). Not by us. We thought it was quite tasteless. Nothing like Custard Beach which, to my knowledge, is no longer in business. The "custard" tasted no different than most soft serve ice cream and wasn't even good at that. We did not try the food as the line was way too long for that; we went to the "express line" for the "custard".

The shakes & floats are the best!

This place has amazing shakes and floats. The cheese fries where great too. They use real cheese on the fries and the fries are cooked in organic oil. The burgers where tasty but not amazing. But if you go make sure to get a shake, float or cheese fries!

    Lol Enough Of The Bashing!!

I get it, you stand on line for over an hour and expect nirvanna. Maybe, you're all the fools?? What kills Shake Shack are the expectations one has before going. The burgers are very, very good and I've had them all over NY. Are there better places with less wait? Of course. But is it the experience of the shack one should go for. Sitting in the park, enjoying an above average burger with some crispy crinkley fries and a shake. If you're expecting perfection maybe you should go to Per Se and drop a grand. Additionaly, the prices at the shack are extremely fair.
