I found Seven one early evening a couple of years ago. My hairdresser is around the corner, and I knew it was the last chance to eat before my appointment. I went in for a cocktale and sample the tapas menu. It's diverse, priced affordably, and fun. The portions are surprisingly large given the price. I've been back many, many, many times for dinner. Try and catch the specials if you can because they are inventive, fresh, and tasty. They do sell out quickly. I've had just about everything on the standard dinner menu - worked my way through the appetizers and the entrees. Never been disappointed. As mentioned by others, the martinis are out of this world. One bone to pick - they used to serve these devine ricotta cheese donuts, sprinkled with powdered sugar, with a blob of ice cream. It's off the menu now. I couldn't resist it with a nice cup of espresso. If you're around MSG, bypass the sports bars and pubs. Enjoy yourself here instead!

Before Seven came along it was pretty difficult to find a good place to eat near MSG. Seven exceeded my expectations. A group of 6 of us had an excellent dinner before the Justin Timberlake concert. Hip, cool atmosphere and decor. Mixed crowd. Excellent variety on the menu. Homemade pasta (you really taste the difference from the stuff out the box) to die for. Three of us ordered the Bow-Tie pasta with lump crab meat (although the crab was more minced than lump) it is a must have. Someone else ordered the burger and brown paper bag fries. The fries -perfect crispy golden brown fries! Someone else ordered the roasted chicken which looked good and the last person ordered the Cavatelli pasta with shrimp that also looked excellent. In addition to a great menu they serve excellent cocktails. The Key Lime Martini is a must have. Taste just like you're eating the real thing. Friendly, attentive staff and great value for the money. I would defintely go back again and recommend it to anyone looking to have a great meal before a event at MSG. You won't find a better place in the area.

Last night my family, some friends and co-workers enjoyed a great meal before the O.A.R. concert. It is so difficult to find a decent place near MSG. Seven was a terrific surprise that exceeded my expectations. The atmosphere is warm and very pleasant. You immediately feel comfortable when you walk in. We ate steaks and seafood and the food was all very good. Being a large party, the restaurant did a great job of getting all our meals right and getting them all out at the same time nice and hot. The presentation was excellent. The menu is a little pricey but not so pricey that I wouldn't come again. The place is a little fancy but not so fancy that you feel uncomfortable; basically Seven is a great blend between an eating experience and a dining experience. It is above average in every category. We all agreed we would all come again even if it wasn't for a concert since many of us use LIRR to get into the City and are looking for a nice restaurant before or after our day.

I ended up here last night by accident as our original destination looked so unsuitable. And it was lovely. The staff were friendly and low key and the food was great. I had scallops and everyone else had some kind of steak and we were all very happy diners when we left. Not the cheapest of places, but i didn't mind paying the bill at all.

We went to Seven just before the Eric Clapton concert on 9/29/06. The location is perfect for a pre-concert dinner - 2 blocks away from Madison Square Garden. We had a reservation and were seated immediately on a nice round table, which I prefer to a rectangular one. The menu had a variety of selections and they also offered very interesting specials. Some in our party had the Filet Mignon, I had the Pork Chops and others had a pasta special with broccolirabe and roasted peppers. There were 8 of us and everyone was pleased. From the reviews posted, I knew the Apple Martini was a specialty. I ordered one and was not disappointed. The Clapton music they were playing was a nice touch, although we couldn't really hear it from where we were sitting. All in all, it was a great experience and I highly recommend it.

Good atmosphere, good service, good food, great drinks. Very convenient if your heading to or from penn station. Def worth checking out if you're looking for something in that area.

I work in the area and initially was so disapointed in the options for lunches...then a co-worker found Seven. Now we go there for lunch or after work drinks all the time. I have never had anything bad there, in fact, every time I go and try something new it's better than the last time I was there, and everyone I've brought there loves it. Their salads are amazing - especially the lobster salad and the tuna nicoise. Never had an entree, but they look good to me! Bloody Mary's are also fantastic. Highly recommend if you're looking somewhere good to dine in this area.
