    Overpriced

Wine priced 30-40% more than same wine at other restaurants. Food prices are high too. Waiters push you to order more. Some dishes are very good (salmon). Others are mediocre at best (stuffed mozzarella uses dried out cheese). And be warned when you get that big check they only take CASH.

    Amazing!!

The best Italian food in the city! You can't go anywhere else. Sette Mezzo is amazing. It's the perfect place. I love sette mezzo!

    Major Disappointment

Our waiter was surly & curt. My risotto was grainy and under cooked. My dinner companions were equally dissatisfied with their meals. The tiramisu was soggy and we were literally rushed out of the door before one of my companions could finish her expresso. I'd have to be paid to return to Sette Mezzo.

Just like Italy, BUT without the LONG flight!

Ok, I've heard all the regular talk about Setto Mezzo, some true, some not true, BUT the facts are the food is EXCELLENT! I have never had a bad meal, not one...the regular menu is terrific, BUT the specials, and they change daily, are superb. Everything is fresh, fresh, FRESH, mostly seasonal and great portions, not too big, not too small! As for being a club, I don't see it? I have 5 kids, yes in NYC, and we all go there, as do many other families and everyone is treated the same...this place is typical NYC, it's busy, no nonsense...so if you want to be stroked and fawned over this isn't the place for you. And good food costs $$$, so get over it or you can go downtown with the hipsters and really be ignored!

Don't bother if you're not rich or famous or both

This restaurant is really a private club. If you have a house charge you're in and treated like a valued member of the inner circle. If you're just a cash paying person (no credit cards accepted) the service is rushed and borderline rude. Even if you go there with some frequency they act like they don't know you. It is clear they can't wait for your table to open up in case someone more important shows up. Recently I made a reservation and when I arrived with out of town guests we were told they had our reservation but no table. No apology just a shoulder shrug. I guess someone with a house charge showed up. I won't go back. Too bad because the food is pretty good.

Lets not get carried away folks...

VERY clubby, very solid food snobby(particularly for newcomers), incredibly homogeneous crowd(hedge fund managers eating $60 pasta special) Service is fine, Ambiance nothing special.

    Yum!

The gnocchi is incredible. Like little pillows--so good! The only thing that is even more delicious is the chocolate ice cream. It has tiny flakes of dark chocolate in it. Incredible! The tables are packed together, its a little bright but I always see people I know and the food is consistently delicious.
