Best French restaurant in NYC
I work one block away and have visited Serge many times. The food is exceptional and the service is amazing. The owner, meets and greets all of his customers and ensures that everybody receives great service. He is also an exceptional chef and many of his dishes taste better to me than those in France.

I"ll Be Back
"Just lovely", my mother replied when I asked how her Sole was, "And your Chicken Cordon Blue?" "Delicious, Mum, what luck we found this place" "It was fate dear, after the morning we've had divine providence decided to intervene" Mother delicately scooped the last of her Potato Puree onto the back of her fork and popped it in her mouth with a contented sigh. "I love our waitress", I said, trying to sound casual. "Brusque but attentive, and I think she's warming to us. That's the French for you, Nicholas, wonderfully full of character. Perhaps you shouldn't have dithered so much over your choice of beer, the woman does have other customers you know" "Of course Mother" "You must bring Dean here. He will adore the ambiance, and if the Trout is half as good as the Sole, he might even propose to you" "Mother!" "If it's too dear for you order from the prix fixe, terribly reasonable prices" "I think we can afford a meal out now and then" "Wonderful, will you be picking up the check then, or shall I put this on my card?" After Mother had paid the bill we headed for the door where Serge asked us if we enjoyed our meal. "Delicious", I said, "Thank you" "Ahh, glad to hear. It is my first day", he said with a smile. I think perhaps he'd used the line before but Mother was quite amused. "I've always loved the French", she said as we stepped back into the New York summer, throwing a glance back over her shoulder at Serge as I hailed a cab.

Grand place to eat
I had the pleasure of dining at this rest for my brother's bd. The food, service, wine were all great. We enjoyed our eve so much! I dropped my bag and did not realize I lost my beautiful eyeglasses. When I called they said they had found them. My brother picked them up the next day. They would not even accept a token of great gratitude from me. This rest. highly recommended. The staff great!

A True French Bistro Find
Had pan fried trout last night and friend had calves liver (pink and tender) - both beautifully cooked. Mine was a prix fix $28 (unheard of in NYC for a Sat. night). No skimpy servings here. Service was fabulous. Serge wasn't there and the place still ran like a top! Best martini in a long time. This restaurant flys under the radar - it should have much more accolade! Wish it were in my neighborhood.

Nice neighborhood bistro in the heart of NYC
The food was truly excellent and the service was attentive and friendly. I went with a group of friends and everything from the wine to each course of food were perfection. The atmosphere was relaxing and cozy. Serge himself is a bit of an eccentric but his presence added to the charming ambiance of the establishment. The price was reasonable for French cuisine. We will definitely return!
