As a tourist that makes me a hypocrite to say, but oh well. We got lucky- the wait was 2+ hours but the host didn't think much of strange women waiting to be seated- nothing but tourists quoting the Serendipity movie. We got seated in 5 minutes- good for us, bad on the service overall though if that is how they operate. Split a sundae and frozen HC with my fiancee, and it was certainly good- enough to go once but probably not back to again. Sorry to all the natives for what we made it become ::(

I have been going here since the place opened with their famous sauerkraut juice. They were making omelets on a single burner. The frozen hot chocolate was available even then. Even though I have moved away from New York, I never miss a visit when I'm there. I'm salivating just thinking about it. It's a truly unique experience..but don't sit upstairs if you can avoid it.

Was it an experience? Definitely. Was it interesting? Absolutely. Was the food any good? Not particularly. Would I go back? No way.

Ya ya ya, I know that Serendipity has the famous frozen hot chocolate, and believe me it is amazing stuff. But, it is definitely not worth waiting 3 hours for. When I went, we were put on a waiting list and told 2 hours. it ended up being closer to 3 or 3 1/2. While the desserts were amazing and definitely hit the spot, I would not reccomend going more than once.

I think that this is one of those places that you probably should go to once but never again and definitely NOT for food. The desserts are good but the food was really disappointing. I had a linguine in a butter wine sauce that had no flavor, portions were small and the service was terrible. Also, if you go, don't leave that teenytiny front entrance! They call your name and if no one answers right away, they skip you and go to the next one... really underwhelmed by the whole experience.

Extremely touristy place-took forever to get seated, almost as long for a waiter to show up. Meal was sub-par to say the least-you are better off to find a hot dog stand. Go for the desserts-we had a frozen hot chocolate-it was awesome! The sundae's, etc. looked great as well.

This is neither overpriced nor poor in service. One must wonder where the other reviewers dine if they think this is the case. The sandwiches are as good as Carnegie, though smaller, and incur no sharing charges. The Frozzzen Hot Chocolate is fantastic and by no accounts should it be compared to a Wendy's Frosty, as a reviewer above stated. Someone left their palate home on that visit, believe me. No one with a taste for real chocolate would find fault with the Deep Devil Mousse, either. Shared, it's just the right ending. Our service was quick, friendly and impeccable, as were the others we saw. The place was packed and yet the wait for food was short and well paced. It was worth the 20 minute wait for a table.
