I absolutely love this restaurant! It can take a while to be seated if you go in the evening or weekends, but the deserts are definitely worth it..delicious! I would go there only for dessert because the other food is a little overpriced, but definitely check it out if you have time!

I read the other reviews and was prompted to add my 2 cents. My family and I had a wonderful time at this resturant. The service was fun and the food was great and reasonable. Who arethese other people complaining that this was not a good stop. Remarkable. These people must eat atthe Waldorf all the time. For regular people this resturant was fabulous and has some history. My family and I will go back next time we are in NYC.

I went here for a girls' night out, as it came highly reccomended. We waited for two hours to get in. The decor is somewhat interesting and somewhat run-down. It was very crowded and made the experience stressful before we even sat down. We just ordered dessert but found it overpriced and it took forever to get to our table. I had oprah's famous frozen hot chocolate and wasn't really impressed. I've had much better desserts. It was definitely not worth what we paid. Bottom line: try it once but it's not all it's cracked up to be. Just 'cause celebrities frequent it does not mean it's good.

Went to serendipity for my bday last sunday...for once, we didn't have to wait and got a table rite away...the service was still as poor as usual and this time the frozen hot chocolate was clumpy and tasted like a cheap frozen drink from a donut shop. The only thing that made me happy was the Forbidden Browadway Sundae...but with their rule of 'no sharing' 6.50 minimum order, it was a lot of food wasted.

A friend and I arrived to a long line in a very cramped and unorganized space. The two hosts that took our names were rude. We had to wait 50 minutes to be seated and when we finally were seated we had an uncomfortable and tiny spot. Our server was nice, but slow in terms of taking our order and clearing off the 2x2 table. The food was barely edible and pricey. The frozen hot chocolate was delicious, but hardly worth the aggravation. So if you can't resist trying the frozen hot chocolate, I suggest ordering it online.

I am glad to say that I went to Serendipity 3 and extremely glad to tell people that I will never step into that restaurant again. It is an overpriced diner with bland food, poor service and a host that was so snotty that I felt that I needed to give him a perscription of midol. The service was not good. It took 20 minutes for the server to greet us and to take our order. Once the food arrived, our server did not check on us once, and then seemed put out when we ordered dessert. I was not impressed by the food or the dessert.

The best thing about this place is the Frrrozen Hot Chocolate. It is worth your while to go for this. It is big enough to share between 2 ppl, but there is a min order per person, so you have to get dessert too. I've had the Blackout chocolate cake that everyone raves about, it's dry and I could make a better chocolate cake from the box. The Lemon Ice Box Pie was nothing to write home about either. There were some cleanliness problems with the restaurant, the service was not good, and I wouldn't recommend the regular food (besides the small portions and high price). Unfortunately it is an institution in NYC that tourists must go to in order to say they've been there. Reservations are possible, just not for busy times like dinner on Friday/Saturday. I highly recommend going during non-peak hours (before the lunch crowd, or between lunch and dinner, esp on the weekdays) so you don't have to wait 2 hours to be seated.
