Poor customer service.....especially at the bar

I had been to Serafina's at different locations and was excited when one opened up in my UWS neighborhood. On a Monday of Memorial Day weekend, I sat at the bar for dinner. The bartender was inattentive, couldn't be bothered and seemed harried, even though the restaurant was practically empty. I ordered a pizza and he tried to sell me the more expensive pizza. I asked for red pepper flakes, which took him forever. I asked for garlic and was told that the garlic was downstairs. I never got the garlic and after eating half of my pizza, I decided, I can go home and get my own garlic powder. At least the pizza was decent, even if I didn't get the more expensive one! Usually bar service in restaurants is is pretty good as you are right in front of the bartender This bartender couldn't be bothered with serving his own customers right in front to him. Poorest service I have ever had. With all the Italian restuarants on the UWS- I would skip this one!!

Great food and very kid friendly

Love lobster carpaccio and a handful of pastas - esp the one w chicken and cream sauce. It's a good meal at a place where u don't feel bad bringing the kids. I do avoid weekend crowds so service and wait has not been a problem.

Like a diner - never going there again...

My husband and I went here for the second time last night. First time was ok, but last night had to send back lasagna for being absolutely COLD. They clearly nuked it and brought it back to me. Vegetable lasagna tasted like spaghettios with little chunks of veggies clearly made days ago. No taste. My husband's pizza was bread with arugula and dried meat on top. No presentation and very little taste. No apology from anyone except server, but even him not really. Service is not up to caliber of this level of pricing. The weirdest thing was that the appetizer came out about 3 minutes after we ordered (fine) followed by the main course only around 1 minute later! Clearly there's some reheating going on and they make it so obvious! Not to mention it made me feel like someone was in a rush to get us out of there fast, when we were actually looking to take our time. This was clear when the waiter collected his tip before we even left! Poor service and poor food. Go around the corner or down the street for better Italian food and service! This is clearly a chain experience...

Can't choose your clientele I guess.

I've been to the Serafina on East 58th Street several times and it's always been good - a little noisy, a little scene-y, but the food and service have always been consistent. Unfortunately that isn't the case at the UWS location, due mainly to the hoards of babies, children, and strollers taking over the place. What is it about Upper West Siders that makes them think it's perfectly acceptable to bring their screaming, crying, running kids to restaurants? Are rents on the UWS so much that people can't afford babysitters? On the night I tried to have dinner here the entire front of the restaurant as you walked in was littered with strollers for people to trip over. You could barely get in the door. The first table next the host stand, a table for 8-10 people, was filled with a few adults who were completely oblivious to their children running around and around the table screaming. I don't blame the restaurant, it seemed nice enough with good house music playing over the speakers and nice lighting. I blame the clientele - rude and entitled UWS parents who think it's their God-given right to drag their children wherever they go. In the end the atmosphere was so frenetic that we left before we could even be seated. I'll stick to East 58th Street from now on.

    Poor service

This place has great food but is a complete disaster with service. Ordered an $80 bottle of wine and was given tiny dirty glasses. I tried to place a pick up order at 530pm and was told they don't take orders over the phone? Hopefully they get their act together as the food is good, if you ever get a chance to eat it!
