Scopello

I've been eating at Scopello since it opened and perhaps because I know it, the menu and the staff, it is always a pleasant experience for me. I see a lot of BAM productions and have eaten in several other places in the neighborhood, but I always come back to Scopello when the choice is up to me. The pasta is great, very rich and full of taste; but the best dishes are the octopus appetizer, the fresh sardines, the salads, and among the main course dishes the short ribs. I have always found any of the fish excellent. And for dessert, the canoli are superb, even in Brooklyn, the home of the best Italian food in the world. And this from someone who lives in Philadelphia.

We arrived at 5:45 so we could make a 7:30 curtain at BAM. At 7:00 we still had not received our entrees! The staff, including the manager, was totally overwhelmed and couldn't produce a simple chicken entree. The waiters were circling themselves; we kept asking for our main courses and they just couldn't produce. THe courses we had were oversalted (sole) and not good enough. We would never go back!

Great food at a good price! It was a beautiful eating experience!

I like I when you walk into a place and it feels fun form the start. I like service that is sensible not scripted, attentive but not pushy. I like portions that are reasonable - not too big not too small. I especially like it when there is a flare for flavor and a great sense of presentation. So naturally, I like Scopello. Maybe you will too.

I love this place. The food is always really good and the service is wonderful. Try the steak tartar. mmmmm!

With so many great Italian restaurants in NYC and Brooklyn I wonder how they stay in business! The food was very mediocre, the service was slow, the drinks not that great. The menu and cocktail list looked good on paper, but in reality...Will never come back.
