best food best food best music!

Excellent. Great in the morning, when no ones there. I've spotted PBurch there! ah! was so excited to meet her in broad daylight, just eating eggs and drinking iced latte. Anyway, toda loo. OH! and at night, they play the best music, it sounds a little loud sometimes but you can always just leave? ha i love this place!

    NYers Beware

Following the trend of much of the LES, Schillers has become a stop on the downtown tourist trail. Its loud, crowded and the wait is unbearable. I went when it was first opened and the food was impressive and the scene was, at the time, pretty hip. No longer the case. The food is average at best and the vibe is, like much of the LES these days, a stereotype of itself. Sort of like a hip NY disneyland. If you want a good dinner, there are plenty of better places. If you want to check out the newest hippest place, go elsewhere. If you want to hear yourself think, go elsewhere. I guess if you are a large group looking for fun or you are coming in from Jersey for the night, it will suffice.

    Big letdown

Were excited to try Schiller's because we are BIG fans of Balthazar. Went for lunch on Friday and the place was nearly empty. Service was prompt, friendly, knowledgeable and excellent. Wine by the carafe was also excellent. Steak frites, however, was awful. I will admit the fries are legendary and deservedly so, but the steak was something I would have thrown away had I made it at home. So grizzly, tough, etc.. Desserts were just OK. I guess I am glad we tried it since we were curious, but will never return. I heard many restaurants are buying lower quality ingredients because of the cost of things these days. Just goes to show that everyone must be feeling the recession "crunch..."

Do not let your GF take you here!

I didn't mind crowded loud and expensive - this is NY after all. What bothered me was the food was pretty lousy (hangar steak tough, cheesesteak mostly bun, caesar salad was like a pre-made cafeteria salad and the nachos were a joke: chips, a bit of processed cheese, and some bland salsa). There were two groups of cute girls sitting on either side of us which made up some for the food, but nothing could make up for the lousy service. After waiting for our main course for about 30 mins. our waitress - complete with attitude - gave us dessert menus. When we let her know we hadn't gotten our dinner yet, she snatched them back and said "never mind." No apology, no admission that she hadn't put in the order. We waited another 20 mins. for our food only to be thoroughly unimpressed. The best thing were the strong cocktails, I guess this is a liqour bar, and not a restaraunt. Do not eat here.

    disappointment

i heard alot about schillers and was excited to go. With no reservation we put our name on the list and were told there would be a 1.5hr wait. there was nowhere to wait, no space at the bar and no standing room so we went to the bar next door to have drinks and wait. came back 45 min later and were made to wait another hour. The service was not good.. our waitress was rude and inattentive. the food was so-so. My friend's tuna burger was good while my steak fites were very badly cooked, hard to cut and hard to chew. pastis' steak frites are way waay better. The place has a loud fun atmosphere but it was so crowded servers were bumping into people and some guy standing near the bar elbowed me in the head since our table was close to the bar and the bar was way too crowded. dissapointing experience to say the least.

    Great place!

Came here last night around 1030-1045 for an impromptu date. There were a good few open tables but we opted to sit at the bar. After reading other people's reviews about the volume level inside, I think that was a good idea. At the bar we were able to sit close and talk to one another. First of all, they carry Stolichnaya Gold (my personal favorite vodka) which I took as a great sign! My date had the tuna burger which was absolutely amazing! I had the gnocchi which was equally as amazing!! Best ever. my new favorite place!

    Pleasant Sunday night dinner

We were seated immdly and enjoyed the busy, but still relaxed atmosphere. The interior pressed-tin ceiling, tiling, bar, even the restroom taps and basin looked like the restaurant had been there for ages, but the waitress told us everything was custom made for Schiller’s some years ago. I had tuna burger, others had cheese burgers and fish, which we all enjoyed. We had Good wine, house wines were simply divided to Cheap, Decent and Good. We also had desserts my key lime pie was excellent. All in all a fun, reasonably priced and tasty dining experience.
