The polenta appetizer was lick the plate good! And the fresh home made pasta with tomato and basil was fantastic. Everything was perfect - from the proseco and complementary freshly fried chips with Italian seasonings at the bar, to the excellent service and atmosphere. The menu is nouvelle eclectic (from an Italian perspective), but, that said, every dish is made to perfection. Bravo!

Eating at Scarpetta and Convivio in the course of the same week is quite a great luxury. The difference in service is extraordinary. Charming waiter well versed in every option @ Scarpetta as opposed to just going through motions staff @ Convivio Simple things like what's in a breadbasket and how it's presented make this restaurant professional but inviting, and just a more pleasurable experience . The food is amazing with a "pasta w/tomato and basil affording a great chef the opportunity to demonstrate how this "simple" dish can transend when done perfectly.....As to the space, some may call the light from the retractable roof too harsh, but after this winter it's glorious and so is Scarpetta...

So far I have been to Scarpetta 3 times and I have to say the dishes that I keep going back for are the Tuna Susci, if you like tuna you are going to love this dish. The Polenta, like you have never had before...I can't even explain how ridiculous it tastes and while everyone loves the simple spaghetti I love the black squid ink pasta dish. I also can't get enough of the light and crispy fritto misto. The service is always attentive and while the atmosphere can be a bit loud I enjoy sitting at the bar or the cafe area. Feels nice. . . and you don't need a reservation, just luck.

We ate at Scarpetta last night and the overall experience was still very good. I had the Polenta which is so creamy and filling that it almost made the rest of the meal too much. But it is one of the best dishes in the city. If you don't like mushrooms you could even try it without them because the polenta is that good. I found the the other dishes a bit salty for my taste. I had the Duck ravioli for my main course. It was oddly cooler than the rest of the entrees that were served. I don't think that was intentional but it was tasty just the same. The desserts were fine if a bit sweet. We had the budino and the panna cotte. The service is lovely and infomative and I enjoyed the whole experience very much.

From beginning to end, this place lived up to the hype. The service was amazing, and the food was great. My friend and I couldn't decide what to order so the server suggested we split an appetizer, and then he said he would split the 2 entrees we were interested in, and do them in 3 courses. I've never had that happen before, and it was so nice to have that suggestion, have each meal split before it came out, and each was presented as if it was the full portion. We were able to eat more items without spending as much money. I was really impressed. The spaghetti was ridiculously good. I would go back in a heartbeat.

we arrived weeknight for dinner. atmosphere calming yet exiciting . service from the maitre d; coat check, bartender and last but not least the entire wait staff was outstanding. menu is not typical Italian (thank god) . inventive with very different flavors. wine list high end . deserts unbelievable . and Scott conant himself was working the front room, very personable gentleman. go go go before it is gone gone gone!!

I want to Scarpetta high hopes having read a number of great reviews, but speaking as a lover of Italian food, I couldn't have been more disappointed. For those who know good Italian, this is not it! The menu is all over the place, and although I give it credit for attempting something a little bold and out of the box, there are just too many dishes that don't work. I was there with a large group of people and so we ordered a number of dishes and sampled from each. There were a few dishes, like the black cod with caramelized fennel, that made me a little naseuous. The staff was un-attentive, despite the fact that we were a large group, and obviously looking to spend big. My advice to everyone is go elsewhere and save your money. Leave this place to the tourists.
