best italian food in town
What a great find in the downtown area. The food was spectacular. My only complaint was there was not enough time during each course. Food was expensive, but portions were adequate.

Best non typical Italian
The ambiance, service and food were excellent. Not the typical Italian-American menu, unusual combination of ingredients which produced mouth watering flavors, particularly my starter of risotto with mushrooms, petit peas and crispy zucchni. Great restaurant to be able to actually converse with fellow diners and not be overwhelmed by music and loud chatter! We were a party of 3 on Jan 5 2011 and will definitely return.

Best Birthday Dinner Ever
I went here for my 30th birthday dinner and had an exceptional meal. My family and I were not rushed, the service was excellent, the food was excellent, and I would highly recommend this restaurant. Get the egg yolk ravioli appetizer and the Warm Doughnut dessert and you will not be disappointed. I will certainly be coming back here for a special occasion!!

Great value, great place
We celebrated my daughter's 30th birthday with a party of ten. We have eaten here several times and it has been consistently great.I enjoy the changing menu choices. While some stated that this isn't typical Italian fare, I disagree. There are many dishes from different regions in Italy. It isn't typical Italo-Americano, which is different from food found in Italia. Definitely worth it and a good dining choice in the city.

Sensational
I never write reviews, but I just went through the process of creating an account here for the sole purpose of writing this one. Despite the expensive pre-fix tab, this place is a real bargain. The portions are generous and they bring you a number of complimentary dishes between courses. The room is beautiful and service was very good too. But most importantly, the food was delicious - better than most of the other "top" restaurants in the city. I have never been so happy to pay the bill. One of my favorite dining experiences ever. Enjoy!

Amazing!
We LOVED this place. The service was so awesome and the food, oh the FOOD was soooo delicious. They have so many things to choose from, even with the prefixed menu. Get the egg, spinach and truffle ravoli app-it was one of the tastiest things I've ever had in my mouth! The chief sends out tastings of other dishes too-it was well worth the money and the trip downtown. We will definitely be back...

Not Really ITALIAN
This restaurant does NOT serve Italian food - so don't be mislead by the name. Every dish seems to have beets in it. I had two choices from the daily specials. One was an appetizer - a napoleon of mushrooms beets and onions (this was very good), main couse was duck "confit" . The meat was tender and cooked to my specification, but the vegetables which accompanied the duck were a mix of beets squash in a watery sauce (which did not compliment the duck in any way). Had gelato for dessert which was very good. Nice atmosphere with candles and dim lighting but (VERY NOISY) - had a headache by the time I left - I have been in cafeterias with less noise! Service was wonderful all through the meal. I would overall call this a nice restaurant but once was enough here for me. Too many other good choices in NYC.
