I ordered the crab meat Napoleon for an appetizer and the duck breast with apricot pureé for my main course and, oh God, it was all just out of this world! But before we even started our dinner, our waiter brought us some delicious bread roasted with onions and olive oil, and that really gets your appetite going! What I also loved about Scalini Fedeli is that they bring you different samples from the menu in between courses. After our appetizers we got a fantastic risotto and after the main course we tried some complimentary sorbet and cute little biscuits with fresh raspberries on top. The crab meat was exceptionally soft and simply melted in my mouth and the duck breast ( I had it medium rare as I'm a big meat lover and for me the bloodier the better) was cooked just perfectly. The biggest compliment I can give to Scalini Fedeli is that my boyfriend, who is normally not a big eater (most of the times I take doggie bags home and finish R.'s dinner microwaved the next day), ate every single dish and even his chocolate cake dessert. I was enjoying a Napoleon, which was so fresh and yummy, that it makes my mouth water just thinking about it now. One tiny drawback is that they don't serve decaf coffee, but after such a great dinner it didn't even matter to R. So I would definitely recommend Scalini Fedeli for a romantic dinner for two if you really want to impress your date, as the food is just excellent and all the staff is on point. I can say, R. and I found a great new dinner spot and we already told all our friends about it. Five stars out of five, definitely will come back soon!

We expected this place to be a busy and bustling place because of the great reviews but it was a more tranquil dinning experience, food was great, get the raviolo!!

This chef must believe that more ingredients create a successful dish. Every single item was covered with a gloppy sauce of some sort, and the only common theme was heavy, heavy butter usage. By the third course we were literally unable to finish the prix fixe meal, and we asked for a check. The only positive result was that it gave us more laughs than we've ever had in a supposedly fine restaurant. We simply could not believe the hideous quality of the food.

We have frequented Scalini many times with complete satsifaction, until last Saturday! We waited almost forty minutes to be seated for our 8PM reservation that was confirmed twice. No drink was offered as in the past. After we were seated, it was quite a long time before we were greeted by the waitor;fortunately, we had drinks from the bar. The prefix is now $70.00 with a long list of specials - all with add ons. The veal chop has a $20.00 add on, even some appetizers have add on. I ordered the scallops. In the past, there were six scallops; now there are only four. The portions are smaller and the price is higher. I notified Scalini that it was my wife's birhtday in advance. They brought a tacky candle on top of her desert and left promptly. In the past, they offered chocalate covered strawberrie and biscotti with the coffee serving, not tonight! I have always raved about the service, the food, the value, and the attention to details. But, this past experienced was vastly different and most disappointing. The star is tarnished for me.

I've been to Scalini Fedeli three times, most recently last Monday with a group of seven fussy friends. I picked the place because I like it so much but was nervous about my friends' reactions. They all loved it! Even the fussiest -- a woman who hates to go too far from the Upper East Side, said after dinner: "I don't mind coming to Tribeca for a meal this good." The food is excellent and creative. There are alot of extras -- at the beginning, and before dessert. The $65 prix fixe is an incredible value. The service at Scalini Fedeli is excellent and the setting/atmosphere couldn't be more civilized and relaxing. I look forward to going back soon.

What a great find in the downtown area. The food was spectacular. My only complaint was there was not enough time during each course. Food was expensive, but portions were adequate.

The ambiance, service and food were excellent. Not the typical Italian-American menu, unusual combination of ingredients which produced mouth watering flavors, particularly my starter of risotto with mushrooms, petit peas and crispy zucchni. Great restaurant to be able to actually converse with fellow diners and not be overwhelmed by music and loud chatter! We were a party of 3 on Jan 5 2011 and will definitely return.
