    Wonderful fresh sushi

My husband and I love this restaurant so much! It's so fresh and right across the street from our apartment. During the summer, when we crave sushi more than in the winter, we go at least once a week. I have only had one problem with them serving me something I didn't order, but they were very sweet about bringing me my original order. Also has great delivery. Yum!

    Sushi Lovers Must Try Sato!

The sushi here is without a doubt the freshest fish to be found in this area. I frequent this restaurant on a regular basis and order delivery almost once a week! Even Mondays and Tuesdays notoriously bad days to order sushi-and I have never been disappointed! The service is impeccable without being pretentious and they even keep your own personal chopsticks "on file" if you are a regular customer. Some things to try on the menu: Beef Tataki Seafood pot soup and gyoza and shumai are fantastic if you ere on the safe side any of their yachts will always make for an excellent meal I have not tried any hot entrees but it is a rather eclectic menu that is worthy of exploring!

    Delivery is fast

This is my favorite sushi resturant on the upper east and I order from here constantly. The Beef Tataki is to die for. They are polite on the phone and extremely helpful.

The best jp resto in UES

When i was looking around with my friend in UES, we felt hungry and we found Sato JP Resto. After we read the menu from outside, we interested to go in. Coz the lunch menu really made us interested, especially the price rather than the JP resto around there. So, we decided to take our lunch in Sato. And do you know what? The food is very great, they make good combination lunch box and the sushi is very fresh. They really offer the good price for the fabulous food. Sato......, we will come back!

    Overcooked

Went to Sato on a weekday night around 9pm. Service was good at first. when we asked for a little more time to look over the menu, the waitress said "ok, you call me when you're ready" and disappeared for 20 mins. I ordered Seafood Udon soup and my girlfriend ordered a "hot white" tuna roll and 2 pieces of sushi. All the seafood in the soup was overcooked and rubbery. The manager was very professional, brought me the menu and offered to bring me something else. No problem, I got the same hot white roll and a salmon skin roll, which were both just ok. For the price I was disappointed. Her sushi was $4 per piece, and the hot white roll (basically spicy crunchy tuna roll with white tuna) was $9. It was nothing special for the price almost double what you'd pay at any one of the other neighborhood japanese places. Bottom line, the service was good when something wasn't right, but when you're paying a premium price in this neighborhood, the food better be top notch.

    What goes up...

must come down. Having lived on the UES for a year, Sato was my go-to sushi restaurant. I was at a friends' place uptown and had to order some last week.. big mistake. The toro was inedible, the salmon was fishy and smoky, even the spicy tuna tasted off. The fish itself was cut in to huge, chewy cubes in the rolls...ugh. Please Sato... sort it out! I miss you!
