I have to agree with John Carney (review below) as he calls out 2 of my favorite Sarge's items -- whenever I am under the weather, my "go to" that always fixes me up is Sarge's Turkey Dinner. This is comfort food for people who don't have mom cooking for them when they really need it. I'm always amazed at how moist the turkey meat is, and how generous and delicious the sides are. Try the mashed potatos and creamed spinach. Also, I always have to order the Banana Cream Pie for dessert when I get the Turkey dinner. I got this once on a whim, but ever since I tried it I have to order it again. A solid pie crust, bananas in banana cream, whipped cream - it is amazing! I live alone, so to make it less egregious, I eat half for dessert, and often the other half for breakfast the next day since the slice is huge. But of course, while a top quality turkey dinner is great, who could write a review for this place without mentioning the NY Deli staples: the pastrami is some of the only house cured in the city - and superior. I love it on Rye, with spicy mustard. I also love the Pastrami & turkey on rye with coleslaw and Russian dressing. If that sandwich doesn't make you say "mmmm" then maybe this place is not your thing. But I doubt that will be the case! Go visit, and if the friendly staff, sour pickles and coleslaw they bring to the table for lunch or dinner, or over sized coffee cup and delicious eggs, or lox and bagel for breakfast does not make you smile, well..then maybe you just don't smile enough!

This is a world class deli with some of the best food in NYC. The soups are great, the meats are store made, the dinners are excellent, the mashed potatoes are the best ever, the rack of lamb is incredible, the turkey dinner is great (tell them to hand slice it thick) the desserts are superb, the banana cream pie is to die for, chopped liver is like mom's, and the roast chicken is good as well. Every dish is as good as it gets. Sure they are expensive but they only use the best ingredients and the portions are enormous. When you order corn you get an ear of corn, not some canned crap. This is a place where quality is king and the owner cares about what he serves to his customers. The delivery is fast and accurate.

Great deli meats and soups. always worth a visit as good food at reasonable prices are the main 'draws'.

I am so excited about Sarges I am not sure anything I am going to write here makes any sense. Please know this I am gonna have more fun telling people about Sarges than eating the great food there, That perhaps is the greatest compliment I could ever give any Restaurant except for one thing. I have actually never stepped foot inside yet. I will fix that soon enough . With such old world favorites with quality beyond compare. I can get things here that have long been removed on other menus. Its the most exciting discovery since I came to NYC. Melissa is extremely knowledgeable about the menu and you can trust her judgement absolutely. Portions are fantastic, My delivery guy is named Papa. He's a real joy too. Yesterday's lean juicy Pastrami actually melted in my mouth. Corn Beef is special. Flanken and Mushroom Barley is an ecstatic adventure. Every once in a while I have an urge for liver and onions. Mine was the Best I have ever had in the whole world. Tender evenly cooked with perfectly carmelized finely cut onions were great and trust me I've been around. Cole slaw was fresh and very tasty. It remains my goal to try everything on this menu. Its a huge menu and I am going to have the time of my life doing it and telling others about it. Lastly thanks to Assif, your greatest fan who told me about you. I may never be able to repay the debt,

Went as soon as I heard it had re-opened. Customer's and staff made it feel like a college reunion. Sandwiches were as good as ever and the chicken soup was as good as my own. The quintessential New York deli. Not cheap but worth the money if you know what tongue and pastrami are supposed to taste like. Knish was great and real NY pickles.

We have been coming into Sarge's for years, the food is absolutely the best. But thier service "overnights" lacks quality. The one good waitress they had just disappear. I heard so many different versions of what happened to her it makes no sense, she absolutely loved it there. Oh where Oh where can she be, Sarges' really needs to find, Costas. This new guy, doesn't have a voice, I think I'm going deaf when he talks, I get frustrated just to order. He belongs in one of those steak house where you have 2 hours to eat. Come on Sarges' get it together.
