Great deli meats and soups. always worth a visit as good food at reasonable prices are the main 'draws'.

I am so excited about Sarges I am not sure anything I am going to write here makes any sense. Please know this I am gonna have more fun telling people about Sarges than eating the great food there, That perhaps is the greatest compliment I could ever give any Restaurant except for one thing. I have actually never stepped foot inside yet. I will fix that soon enough . With such old world favorites with quality beyond compare. I can get things here that have long been removed on other menus. Its the most exciting discovery since I came to NYC. Melissa is extremely knowledgeable about the menu and you can trust her judgement absolutely. Portions are fantastic, My delivery guy is named Papa. He's a real joy too. Yesterday's lean juicy Pastrami actually melted in my mouth. Corn Beef is special. Flanken and Mushroom Barley is an ecstatic adventure. Every once in a while I have an urge for liver and onions. Mine was the Best I have ever had in the whole world. Tender evenly cooked with perfectly carmelized finely cut onions were great and trust me I've been around. Cole slaw was fresh and very tasty. It remains my goal to try everything on this menu. Its a huge menu and I am going to have the time of my life doing it and telling others about it. Lastly thanks to Assif, your greatest fan who told me about you. I may never be able to repay the debt,

Went as soon as I heard it had re-opened. Customer's and staff made it feel like a college reunion. Sandwiches were as good as ever and the chicken soup was as good as my own. The quintessential New York deli. Not cheap but worth the money if you know what tongue and pastrami are supposed to taste like. Knish was great and real NY pickles.

We have been coming into Sarge's for years, the food is absolutely the best. But thier service "overnights" lacks quality. The one good waitress they had just disappear. I heard so many different versions of what happened to her it makes no sense, she absolutely loved it there. Oh where Oh where can she be, Sarges' really needs to find, Costas. This new guy, doesn't have a voice, I think I'm going deaf when he talks, I get frustrated just to order. He belongs in one of those steak house where you have 2 hours to eat. Come on Sarges' get it together.

Absolutely awesome Jewish deli. They have by far the best corned beef hash, and the sandwiches (particularly grilled salami) and latkes are excellent. Only Katz's has better latkes in Manhattan, but it's such a production there that it makes it almost not even worth it. Sarge's kreplach are great too. As for the prices, don't be fooled. Yes, $12 - $14 is a lot of money for a sandwich. But it's got well over 1/2 lb of quality, delicious meat on it, served hot and just sliced. If you think that's a bad deal feel free to go to Pret and spend $7 on a pre-made sandwich that has 1.5 ounces of tasteless meat. Then tell me which is the better deal.......

Sarge's is great because they are open 24 hours and deliver all over the city. If you have the flu, there is great chicken soup right at your door regardless of the time of night and great sandwiches after those late nights drinking. I found out that the delivery guy who can travel up to 30 minutes each way at night to deliver makes $5 after you take out the taxes from his paycheck so please take that into consideration when tipping...that comes to $800 a month after taxes if he works a 40 hour week...
