Went here because it is a theater distric "institution," but I was very disappointed. The atmosphere was snooty; the servers acted like they were doing you a favor by waiting on you; and on top of everything else, the food was only average. The Creme Brulee was poor. Would not recommed to others....instead pick one of the other wonderful restaurants in the theater district.

Hubby & I had meal in Sardis on Feb 28th 2007 - I was celebrating my birthday and my first visit to NYC - this was noted on the booking but on arrival the booking records were not checked and no effort was made to make this a special night out. Yes, our waiter was lovely, a total gent, food very good, but absolutely no atmosphere in the place at all!! Four tables were occupied when we entered and two when we were leaving. Our waiter was not around when the bill was presented, and a very pushy waitress came to our table 3 times in as many minutes to take our payment and was rude when we said we were not ready to pay. We were trying to enjoy our coffee/tea at the time. She was most ungracious when we did pay, despite leaving a generous tip. I will never again go to Sardis when in New York. There are too many other good restaurants to choose from.

Went there for lunch before the show on a Friday. We were seated promptly and our drink order was taken immediately. The wait staff was friendly , courteous and attentive. The food tatsed good and was served hot. It was a most pleasant experience.

I had the greatest birthday ever going to Sardi's. I was treated very well by the staff and they were extremely attentive. My boyfriend and I chose Sardi's for my birthday and will definitely for other occasions or just a nice meal in Manhattan. The food was PERFECT! The best meal out that I had in a very long time. We were extremely satisfied! We started with an appetizer Sampler, which has a tease of every delectable delight that you can imagine that was artistically placed on one plate. Then our Main course, we dined on Mahi Mahi and Salmon over Greens - AGAIN, Perfectly cooked. Just the way we liked it. Dessert was a beautiful final touch. We shared a cheese cake, which came to us on a plate in a round shape with drizzles of a white chocolate and raspberry sauce. Their Coffee was top shelf too. We were very pleased with everything and they made sure we were seated and served on time before he hit the Show. Sardi's started our most wonderful evening! We will not be a stranger to Sardi's in the future.

While visiting NY in July we decided to go to Sardi's before the Phantom. The food was very good, cooked to perfection and the dessert was heavenly. Yes, it was a bit on the pricey side, but it was an excellent meal. I would definitely go back again. (Just not too often!!!) And the waiter we had was absolutely wonderful, he was very attentive and made sure that we were enjoying our time there. Love NY, love Sardi's.

Nothing about the experience lived up to my expectations, except the Creme Brulee (it surpassed them!) The food was average, but the service the real shocker. The original server only reappeared once. The guy who delivered our food was less than happy to be there. We were a group of 12. I expected A LOT more than what they delivered. I won't go back.

We visited Sardis on a Sat. night after the show, and ordered a Cobb salad which was very fresh and tasty. We also had a hamburger which was hard and flavorless. The dinner rolls were tough, also. My friend had the mandarin risotto (rice) pudding which sounded good, but the zest was overpowering and she could not eat it. I had the strawberry /cream/meringue dessert and it was to die for. While the service was excellent, I would not go back.
