    Never going back...

This has got to be the worst service in New York. The wait staff kept bringing the wrong dishes to the wrong people and then trying to figure which table really ordered the dish. They bring entrees in the middle of the appetizer. They asked us to move in the middle of our meal to make room for a bigger party - or rather they picked up or dishes in the middle of the meal and moved them to the neighboring table. Our bill had items that we never ordered. The wait staff is incredibly unorganized it's not clear who is your waiter...

    Awesome South Indian Food

The best South Indian food in NYC! The tiffin's are excellent value and the mixed vegetable paratha is yummy!

    Never going back again

We used to be regular patrons after the restaurant opened, till the food quality dropped off the cliff, and the service became insufferable. Recently went there after a long time, thinking that things may have changed. Regretted it right away. While the food quality continues to be mediocre at best, the wait staff have gotten worse. Go there only if you think you can wolf down your food quickly, otherwise the staff will throw you out. We had our check put on the table while we were still working through our food, and then the wait staff came by 3 times to check if we'd put our credit card in. After we had paid, and were waiting for our friend to finish her coffee, the restaurant manager actually came by to tell us that we should leave as there were people waiting outside. Most bizarre if you ask me. Never experienced that at a restaurant anywhere in the world, least of all at an Indian restaurant.

    great food, mediocre service

Everyone on here seems to have it right. The food is absolutely delicious but the service is very rushed and the space cramped.

Superb with a few glaring defects

Excellent South Indian food. This place gets absolutely jam packed so come early. Better than in anything in Jackson Heights or Flushing. My only problem with Saravanaas is the incredibly rushed service- we were asked for our orders twice over the course of few minutes right after we sat. Furthermore, our waiters forgot our utensils several times. Still, you can't beat this combination of food and price.

Best South Indian food in Manhattan

With the exception of the Dosa Cart at Washington Square park, this is the best South Indian food in Manhattan, and close to the food you can get in Flushing. Great value, great atmosphere, and tasty food. No one goes to Indian restaurants for the service, you go for the food because there are just not that many good Indian restaurants in the city.
