Saravanaas/ Saravana Bhavan

Saravanas has definitely the best selection of Dosas (crepes) in NYC. I recently visited Chennai , India and went to the same restaurant. I am delighted to say that this food in NYC is very comparable to the one in Chennai. Very traditional thali at a good dinner price of 13.95

The food was very good when it was opened last year. The quality has come down in the past three months. Looks like the chef has left or moved to a different restaurant. Hope they will get a cook from India.

I'm not a vegetarian by any means but my friend is so we ate here. Yes, it's a little pricier than many Indian restuarants but the food and flavor is worth the price. It's still reasonable. Our entree came out within 2 minutes of our appetizers, but aside from that service was very good with water being filled up all the time. We had the Thali and it was on like Donkey Kong!

Although the decor of Saravanaas seems on first glance perhaps to be trying too hard, the food at the restaurant couldn't be better.

Food is excellent, but it's expensive.

Service wonderful and the servers are very attentative. Keep your service maintained & good luck.

Excellent food, the same quality you get in Saravaas in Tamilnadu!
