it's not so great.
everyone told me i should try sarabeth's for sunday brunch. i tried to make reservations but they're not allowed, and we had to stand outside on the sidewalk for almost 2 hours to wait for a table! the food was FINE, but not worth the wait at all.

Great food, but overpriced
The food here is fantastic, but extremely expensive for what you're getting. Afterall, it's only pancakes or french toast for heavens sake. Expect a line on weekends, although that doesnt bother me. Decor is quaint, and after living in Vermont for 6 years, I very much appreciate the fact you get real maple syrup with your order instead of some gross Log Cabin or Aunt Jemimah nonsense.

Delicious!
There are many negative reviews of Sarabeth's West here, but I have eaten there five or six times and feel that those reviews are unwarranted! Sure, if you go for 10 AM brunch on Saturday or Sunday, you will have to wait, but most people wouldn't complain if they had to wait a while for a table at a fabulous restaurant at 7:30 PM. The food is awesome, particularly at breakfast (although some yummy dinner dishes as well). The breads and spreads are awesome, and when I've been there, the staff has been nothing but accomodating. I actually changed what type of bread I wanted (try the scones or english muffins with your eggs...mmmm) about ten minutes after we'd ordered on an incredibly busy day, and the waitress was nothing but sweet about it. It's a little pricy but worth it for a memorable brunch experience. The decor is relaxing (very much reminded me of the South, actually) and even when the place is pretty crowded I have felt very comfortable. If you want to have a positive experience, avoid large parties on Saturday and Sunday at 10-ish.

Not the best on the west
Nice menu selection, but not worth the wait on saturdays and sundays, atmosphere was nice, food just average there is alot more options for better value & equal food quality in the neighborhood, service was fair. I have never tried their other locations.

A Note From a Seasoned New Yorker
The "hype," my dears, is that Sarabeth's has an outstanding brunch that is one of the best in the city. Everyone knows their eggs benedict puts all other eggs benedicts out of business b/c it is the best in the world. Sarabeth's also has fantastic pouridge. Be sure to order the four flowers juice or a mimosa - the latter comes w/ your own mini champagne bottle. And before I forget, their scones are excellent. Don't bother for dinner, although their rissotto seems delicious.

Great staff and great food
You can't go wrong with Sarabeth's, time after time, I have always experienced friendly service and great food, jams and muffins. This dinning experience is the reason why the place is always full. On weekends there tends to be a wait, but the hostess is always by the door and gives you an estimated wait time when you arrive. Sarabeth's has been around for a while so the wait times given are usually on the money. Thank you Sarabeth's for such consistent great food and service!

Diner food
Whats with the sarabeths hype? Had a shrimp salad with 5 nice grilled shrimp , they came smothered with greens, nothing else, lousy dressing. Sent it back wanted the avocado, corn, mozzarella and tomato salsa that was at the bottom of the mound of greens and hardly there. They did it over with more of the chopped veggies. My friend had a subpar omelette. Nothing special, money poorly spent.
