stellar place; sour service
I've been going to this Sarabeth's for five years and two things have been true: the fare is consistently really good and the staff is insufferably unpleasant. I listened as everyone (myself included) gave my order two or three times to have the staff repeat it back wrong nearly every time. I was AMAZED when my order emerged from the kitchen correct. Every time I've been to Sarabeth's at Chelsea Market, I feel like the staff is doing me a favor by doing their job and I hear them treat all customers in this unfriendly, unhelpful manner. Their overwhelming negative energy is enough not to make me want to go back for a while.

exemplary stuff
I go to Chelsea Market just for Sarabeth's. Best French Toast I've ever had. Great muffins and sandwiches. Sure, it's a smaller menu than the uptown location, but you don't have to deal with the crowds. It's just a few small tables, a sales counter, an indoor location. A quiet place to work (virtually) on a wintry weekday morning... with a bakery in view!

Must Eat to Believe!
If I could have bottled the smell in this place, I would take a whiff every morning. This was by far the best place we ate while in NYC. I kept saying to my husband, "this is so good I think I'm going to cry." I had the Plain Jane (scrambled eggs & ham & a fresh english muffin with homemade apple butter!) and my husband had apple-cinnimon french toast with raisins and bananas, apple butter and syrup. It's been over a month and I still crave those eggs. Best breakfast ever!
