The best
The best place to linger in the west village, service is always suberb. And it's never too loud even when full. For some reason, the obnoxious people veer to one of the neighboring restaurants.

Great food, wine list and atmosphere
My ratings reflect a view that 5 = 5 star restaurant. Sant Ambroeus offers wonderful food (fine ingredients, preparation and presentaion -- more elevated than the typical) , a really good wine list (their wines by the glass rival the best restaurants in New York) and service that makes the experience extremely pleasurable. Perfect restaurant for those used to the best restaurants but wanting a more casual, warm experience.

Amazing Italian Food
This restaurant in the heart of the west village is like stepping out of new york and stepping into Italy. For anyone who has ever been to Italy, when you go to Sant Ambroeus you feel like you are back there. The food is authentic, and the waiters are incredibly nice. The paninis I definitly reccomend for lunch. And definitly have desert, they taste even better than they look.

Fun, tasty and trendy
This is the place to enjoy yourself, while you savor your food, see the beautiful people, appreciate the neighborhood and have fun. Amusing, cozy and everything looks good, from the clientele, to the food, pastries, waiters and the terrazzo.

Although it appears charming and friendly on the outside and even to a great extent on the inside there are limits to how much appearance can do to help a restaurant. Start off with the food...adequate size portions at high prices. $10.00 for a few eggs and toast? $14.00 for a small sandwich? Egads! Some of the wait staff seems to be too much into interacting with the patrons, although it is good (and wise) to connect with the customer, it exceeds standards when there are customers at other tables waiting for their checks. There are far better values to be found within just a few short blocks and with a much friendlier attitude.
