Chef Basil is one of the best Brooklyn has to offer. The food is great. The atmosphere is great. On the weekends the music may be a little loud but that may be to attract new customers. Eating in is far better than take out. My faves are Rasta Pasta; Jerk Chicken; Snapper; Popcorn Shrimp.

I have been meaning to try this place and tonight decided I was in the mood for something flavorful and different. I placed my order for delivery with a very nice and helpful girl over the phone. I ordered the hangar steak with peppercorn sauce and sweet potato fries, side of mac and cheese and an order of the fried calamari. I was told the delivery would take 30-45 minutes but it actually took about an hour and when it came the food was all cold. I don't mind warm food but cold is just blah. The steak was somehow flavorless and did not have any peppercorn sauce. The sweet potato fries were soggy and I'm not sure what kind of sweet potatoes they use because they were white. The calamari was also not very flavorful but the sauce that came with it was great and made up for that. All in all I was very bored and unsatisfied with my meal and will probably not order from here again. I may give it another chance for dine-in because the people were very nice over the phone and maybe the food just doesn't travel well.

i've been trying to give this place a chance but for the price the food is not up to standards. cold apps - fish and chicken skewers tasted like frozen food.

Very good food. Went here with boyfriend and fam, and had a great time. They could lose the TVs in the dining room, but Chef Basil's warmth and hospitalilty, and his great food, made up for it. Hope to come back sometime soon!

Arrived around 5p.m with my husband and toddler, 5 min walk from our home ...restaurant was empty except workers.. which was ok with us..since ppl were prob just getting off work. nice plasma tv, a bit pricy/ portions could be more ie. rice / mac n cheese... but tasty and delicious, our waitress was nice & courteous, told us in advance that we would have to wait a while for my ordered entree of stuffed chicken breast, so we should try apps. ...ordered peppered jumbo shrimp... yummy! We will visit again leave baby with grandma!

I have eaten several times @ San Souci. The food is great, the staff is cool, and the Chef "Basil" is a sweetheart. He comes out and greets his guest he makes you feel like family. Of all the dishes, I prefer Rasta Pasta served with Jerk Chicken. I have eaten at many restaurants but that dish is definitely something to go back for. The Crab Cakes are a wonderful appertizer. The Honey Garlic Chicken is also a winner. The drinks are reasonable priced and one of the Bartenders "Davis" is also a sweetheart. And I can't forget my girl Antonette a sweetheart. Thank you San Souci for coming to Fort Greene!

I have ordered delivery from almost every restaurant that delivers in the area (been in the neighborhood for 10 years when options used to be few and far between). This place is great. Have always stuck to salmon dinners but their rice and peas is the BEST hands down! Always nice and delivery is prompt. Food portions are perfect and their prices make it reasonable for what you get. I hope this place stays around!!
