Tonight my friends and I thought it would be cool to have a big apple night in with some pizza, beer, and garden salads. Why not try our local pizza joint Sam's? They're under new management (according to their most recent menu, circa 2006, which features a puppy dog kicking a soccer ball while holding a steaming hot pizza pie!) so why not give it the old post-MFA try? Anyways, we stopped at the corner store on Gates & Classon for the beer and then went back home and told Sam to take care of the pie & salad. The salad was so not great though! It tasted like tripe and brine! They put nasty pickled vegetables on a bed of iceberg lettuce and said "Hey! Eat this!" No thanks Sam! Learn how to pick succulent farm fresh greens up at the Fort Green Farmer's Market like the rest of us. Even my Grandma makes a better salad than you punks.

I ordered a spinach pizza from this place last night for the first time and didn't have the greatest experience. They called me three times asking me for my address and they delivered an overpriced $18 large pie when I ordered a medium. The pizza itself wasn't any better. The crust and garlicy spinach weren't bad, but the cheese was of the waxy variety and the sauce was tasteless.

I ordered from Sam's last night. Maybe I should have just walked the block and a half away and dined in because it actually took an hour and forty five minutes for them to deliver one medium pizza..and they forgot my beverage! I should have just called and cancelled after the first thirty minutes because when the pizza got here it was pretty subpar.

Fresh, tasty pizza and sandwiches. I have ordered delivery and carry-out from Sam's a number of times. Tried other places in the area as well. Sam's is, by far, the best of the kind in this area. I have been impressed by the quality of ingredients in every order. They seem to really care about food quality and cleanliness and customers. Can't say much about the atmosphere of any pizza parlor in Brooklyn--especially one right across from the projects. Its pretty much the same everywhere you go. Nothing fancy for dining in, but certainly as good as any other pizza place in brooklyn (Brick Oven and other gourmet places not included). The staff has always been courteous and helpful.

As a pescetarian, I was very disappointed to order vodka sauce with BACON in it. Even if I ate meat I wouldn't want bacon in my vodka sauce. It makes it taste smoky and well, like bacon sauce. I couldn't even eat it. Vodka should have 4 flavors : tomato, garlic, basil and cream. Maybe there pizza is OK but this dish was a waste of money and ruined my dinner.
