Great place, pizza awesome I could smell and taste it as I am writing, Calzones delicious just the right crispness, The marinara sauce just the sauce itself outstanding. Not anyone can make a great gravy, this is great sauce! Whatever your taste buds are desiring that day try Sam's Pasta dishes. They are flavorful.....Best kept secret in Brooklyn. Italian food go to Sam's, to thumbs up!

Just go and taste for yourself. Whenever my city friends come to my apt all they ever want to order is Sam's

I love Sam's pizza with a little jar of chianti. Beyond that, the food is OK, not great. I go there for the pizza and the ambiance. It's like going to dinner in 1965.

Really great red sauce Italian. I love the old school atmosphere -- there aren't too many places like this left. As a born and bred city kid, it makes me feel better places like this still exist. The service is unique - to say the least - and can be slow, but they don't have to worry about that because the foods so good they know you're coming back anyway.

I might dare to say that this is the best pizza in New York. It definitely rivals all the usual top picks and the restaurant has much more character. Each time I've been there whoever I was with came to pretty much the same conclusion on their own. It often looks like they're closed - just walk in. You'll feel like you've stepped back in time. It's the perfect combination of really good classic Italian food, classic NY attitude (though firendly and funny) from the waiters, red and white checkered table clothes and really reasonable prices.

Best pizza in the neighborhood (besides Lucali's)!! Great restaurant decor. I've lived around here for years and never stopped by. Finally got around to getting the pizza and it's really good!!

Don't let the old decor chase you away. This place definitely is not romantic, but if you want good Italian food, this place is fantastic! Marinara sauce was great & the ravioli is good too. Waiters are a lot of fun & after telling them it was our first time there they even gave us free dessert (ricotta cheesecake - incredible). House wine is decent. We will definitely go back.
