I'm a nearby Villager since 1972 and have been coming here since Jefferson Market vacated to across the street. Don't believe the put-down on the atmosphere. It's a pleasing Japanese style minimalist décor, immaculately clean with a flagstone pavement floor. The food is expertly prepared and yet copious (unless you're a lover of man-sized portions expect to have to ask for a take home carton). Great spare ribs, mu shu, sweet and sour, sesame noodles and some of the best hot and sour soup in town. Perfectly wok tossed vegetables, toothsome but not raw. My faves: black fungus, mushroom, broccoli. One of the best dishes: chicken thighs over rice. Service is at lightning speed.

I live in the area and empire szechuan used to be the best... not any more... sammys reigns supreme in the village now with the best lunch special around. The wonton with roast pork is great as well as the pork/shrimp mei fun. Shrimp with broccoli and white sauce is a personal fav here though. But the place is ugly... go delivery or take out.

I really miss Sammy's They used to be on 38th & 3rd but moved to there new location. I moved to Florida and everytime I go back to NY I have to eat at Sammy's I even go as far as bringing Some roast pork buns, the very Spicy Beef and dumplings with me back to FLA. This is the best Chinese food I've ever had. There service is the best and there fast too. I enjoy it everytime I go back to NY. I highly recommend it.

I have tried their beef chow fun, shrimp lo mein, general tso's chicken, and rice. I was amazed by the lightning speed of the delivery. I had JUST made my order, started on some work, and ding dong they were at the door. All the food arrived piping hot and fresh. The beef chow fun and lo mein were just as I expected these Chinese dishes to taste like. But general tso's chicken was a good surprise. I ordered it from a recommendation on menupages.com and I liked the unusual taste. Also, the rice was perfect not sticky, watery, just perfect. All in all, I highly recommend this place for QUICK, piping hot, Chinese food delivery.

I love the big fat noodles with gobs of sesame sauce. I plan my commute around these noodles even though I live nowhere near sammy's!

delivery is quick and good. the only complaint (and my friends did warn me) is that the delivery guys always inspect their tip, and are not afraid to ask for more, which is really more annoying than anything else. favorites are the general tso's, cold sesame noodles, and vegetable dumplings. i also appreciate that they offer a choice of brown rice at no additional cost. eating in is also quick and delicious. it can get pretty loud, but you're not going there for the setting anyway.

The Chinese food is good. Especially the Steamed Little Juicy Buns (they're like dumplings). The atmosphere is not that good. It's very cramped, but once the food arrives, you forget about it because the food is so good.
