Prices are absurd
Sammy's raises their prices every couple of months while the quality of the food and service continues to deteriorate. Avoid wasting your money on overpriced, bland, poor quality. This place sucks.

Amazing Quality/Portions
The food is excellent as well as authentic. The atmosphere could use some improvement, but the portion and quality of the dishes are amazing. They have the best general tso chicken I ever had ! Check them out you won't be disappointed.

better back in the day
We came for lunch on weekend and it was almost empty—a bad sign. We had singapore mai fun (curry one), shrimp chow fun (wide flat noodle), double cooked pork, shredded beef. No tea ,but got white rice & brown rice. The curry noodles were good, lots of curry, wet style and generous with chicken, pork and shrimp in good sized portion. Fun was in decent sauce, some noodles stuck together leaving a few white and untouched by sauce, some were hard not fully cooked, enough shrimp, good dish overall. Shredded beef was OK, enough beef but more than enough thin sliced veggies. Double sautéed pork was so-so; tough pork, but plenty of it. OK sauce. All dishes were very salty. Service could’ve been better-water was not always refilled. Prices were fair for touristy 6th Ave. Not great place to sit and schmooze (even when empty ) as they asked us 3 times whether we were ready to order, collected our empty places the second we took the last bit off the dishes, and gave us our check pretty quickly when we didn’t even ask for it—never inquiring about dessert or anything else. Sammy’s was extremely popular back in the day; those who rave now about this place haven’t experienced the real Chinatown, Flushing or even Brooklyn’s Asian areas.

What matters to me
What matters to me are quality and generous portions and these have always been present here for as long as I have been coming which is to say as long as it's been going as I am a half-century plus Villager. The hot & sour soup is the best north of Chinatown. My favorite meal is the Singapore mai fun which does not stint on the curry or the fat tender shrimp. I love the spicy squid as well. You can pay more but you will dine no better.

Bad delivery
The food has been very inconsistent lately. One dinner was actually inedible. The delivery guys are consistent rude. They actually demand more money for tips. On more than one occasion when I asked them how much the ticket was they inflated the price or rounded it up. Nowadays I just give them a dollar or two tip and if they have a decent attitude I'll give them more. I don't think they understand that a tip is meant to be a gratuity.
