Thought the food was was great, although, yes, portion sizes are a bit small for the prices. Waiter was very helpful and pleasant. Not sure who the interior designer was, but when I read another review that compared it to a "traditional Italian salumeria crossed with an underground German sex club", I laughed at loud - spot on - wow, it's bizarre. Lastly the two hostesses - they're overly dramatic. Once you get past that, all was great.

I really wanted to like this place. I love Italian food and small-sized dishes and cheeseboards and cozy restaurants, but this establishment is not worth your time or money. The most important thing, the food, is so so so so average. Even if it was dirt cheap, I would not go to there because honestly it's grocery store quality (cheese, meats, gnocchi, everything else I tried). BUT THEN to make things even better, the food was so ridiculously overpriced that I could have flipped over the table Jersey Housewife style. It was $18 for a cheese board...which is acceptable in NYC if the portions were not literally the size of what someone would place in a mouse trap to catch a baby mouse. Also, I kindly asked if I could not have blue cheese on the cheese plate, and was sternly told that the "chef" aka the DELI CLERK cutting cheese makes the selections and if he judges that we get blue cheese then we are to live with his decisions. Had to get the server to talk to the chef/deli clerk twice before we anyone agreed to not make us pay for things that we did not want. Maybe it sounds like I am being picky/persnickety/cheap about little things... but I don't see any point in overpaying for worthless food when you're in Manhattan and you have an abundance of delicious food within close proximity.

Food is excellent but I was very put off about being rushed out. When you make reservations they tell you that you will only be allowed to say for an hour and a half. Though an hour and half is enough time to eat it does feel rushed and does effect the dinning experience. So overall I would not recommend the restaurant.

Love, love, love this salumeria! I felt like I was back in Italy. My only regret is that I have moved from the neighborhood since I last went there. I cant wait to go back. Food is excellent, finally a salumeria in manhattan. It is so much better than the other area wine bars. As far as the ore reviews, the wine and food make up for any other faults and for that matter so does the ambiance. Everyone beds to learn to appreciate the good a little more often.

I have to disagree w/ the other reviews, on a recent trip to Salumeria our service couldn't have been better and my date and I sat drinking wine for as long as we wanted to stay. Food was delicious, and best sliced meats I've had in a while - highly recommend and we will return. Recommend trying the meat/cheese plate (small was MORE than enough for 2), lasagna and pork belly!

I have never in my life dealt with such an incompetent wait staff. We had to ask for every little thing - 4 or 5 times and from different servers and were still ignored (I'm talking about things like ordering soup and never receiving a spoon; ordering a refill on glasses of wine and after waiting almost 1/2 hour finally having someone come by with one of the wines and pour the dregs of one of the bottles - about a tablespoon - and say he'd be back with more. Of course he never showed with either that wine or the other we'd ordered. And of course both were on our bill. I never did get the soup I ordered although my partner got his - w/o ever getting a spoon. And yes, all were on our bill. Waiters stopped by regularly to ask if we were okay and we'd say, please, we asked someone else for a napkin about 20 minutes ago, could you please check and we'd get attitude of the type "well I wish you'd asked me in the first place, I would have helped you" only never to see that person again either and still not receive anything we asked for. It is astonishing to me that they ask you to leave after 90 minutes - we were there an hour and didn't receive half of the food and wine we'd ordered. Would they really have had the nerve to ask us to leave? It wouldn't surprise me if the answer was yes. The food we did get to eat was absolutely delicious and the wine was good as well Maybe we should just have eaten all the food that was brought to us that belonged to other tables - that happened three times. Unbelievable. Not only will I never eat here again, I won't even walk on that side of the street they made me so mad.
