Rushed Out Before We Even Ate

Food is excellent but I was very put off about being rushed out. When you make reservations they tell you that you will only be allowed to say for an hour and a half. Though an hour and half is enough time to eat it does feel rushed and does effect the dinning experience. So overall I would not recommend the restaurant.

    Awesome place

Love, love, love this salumeria! I felt like I was back in Italy. My only regret is that I have moved from the neighborhood since I last went there. I cant wait to go back. Food is excellent, finally a salumeria in manhattan. It is so much better than the other area wine bars. As far as the ore reviews, the wine and food make up for any other faults and for that matter so does the ambiance. Everyone beds to learn to appreciate the good a little more often.

    Great Experience

I have to disagree w/ the other reviews, on a recent trip to Salumeria our service couldn't have been better and my date and I sat drinking wine for as long as we wanted to stay. Food was delicious, and best sliced meats I've had in a while - highly recommend and we will return. Recommend trying the meat/cheese plate (small was MORE than enough for 2), lasagna and pork belly!

    Total Incompetence

I have never in my life dealt with such an incompetent wait staff. We had to ask for every little thing - 4 or 5 times and from different servers and were still ignored (I'm talking about things like ordering soup and never receiving a spoon; ordering a refill on glasses of wine and after waiting almost 1/2 hour finally having someone come by with one of the wines and pour the dregs of one of the bottles - about a tablespoon - and say he'd be back with more. Of course he never showed with either that wine or the other we'd ordered. And of course both were on our bill. I never did get the soup I ordered although my partner got his - w/o ever getting a spoon. And yes, all were on our bill. Waiters stopped by regularly to ask if we were okay and we'd say, please, we asked someone else for a napkin about 20 minutes ago, could you please check and we'd get attitude of the type "well I wish you'd asked me in the first place, I would have helped you" only never to see that person again either and still not receive anything we asked for. It is astonishing to me that they ask you to leave after 90 minutes - we were there an hour and didn't receive half of the food and wine we'd ordered. Would they really have had the nerve to ask us to leave? It wouldn't surprise me if the answer was yes. The food we did get to eat was absolutely delicious and the wine was good as well Maybe we should just have eaten all the food that was brought to us that belonged to other tables - that happened three times. Unbelievable. Not only will I never eat here again, I won't even walk on that side of the street they made me so mad.

Drink fast, the clock is ticking...

Like the reviewer below, I was tossed from this restaurant after 90 mins, but I wasn't even informed in advance of this policy. After dropping $150 on dinner and wine, my companion and I were asked to drink up and leave as soon as the last glasses from our bottle were poured. We were sitting at the bar, and there were empty tables, but when I complained to the manager, he told me that they are SO popular they have to enforce a time limit. They are so popular that they don't need your business. Frequent one of the other lovely wine bars in the neighborhood.

Give me a Break- Pure Arrogance

This place has to be kidding. When I called to make a reservation, I was reminded that I would be limited to spending only 1 hour and 30 minutes at my table after which time I would be expected and/or asked to get up and leave because the restaurant has a policy of "turning the table over" in that amount of time - in other words, seating the next customer. When I asked what would occur if we were not done eating, (as in if the food was still being served which the customer can not control, and/or was still on the table being eaten), I was told that we would be expected to get up and leave and that it was a strict no exceptions policy. I responded that the restaurant had lost my business and hung up the phone - I have never before encountered such arrogance. Give me a break!
